Muslims only celebrate 2 days in a year. 1 day is what skelley reffered to, thats after Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) which is about 2 months from today. and today was Eid Ul Fitr the Eid after the Month of Ramadhan in which Muslims fast for 1 full month (no eating/drinking/ in the day). Since Muslims dont celebrate any other day, no new year, no birthdays no nothing (atleast we are not supposed to but some muslims do all that out of 'culture') , i always make sure i celebrate these 2 days the best i can :) AmericanD 12-06-2002, 03:25 AM Eid is an arabic word though so I dont really know the real translation. The word 'Eid' in Arabic is from 'ya3ood' which is 'comes back' . So, Eid means, the day that comes back repeatedly, every week, every month, every year and so on. In this case, it comes back every year. So, Happy Eid to all of you again! |
