Any of you guys run any game servers? I want to start doing this but i need some recommendations on what UT2003 runs best on. I have checked out http://www.gamehard.com for some information but i cant find a host running UT2003 on linux yet.

I've heard UT2003 runs best on Windows which is probably why you are finding it hard to find material.

Nah, its just widely used on Windows because the Linux Server didnt come out at release and most just adapted to it. Linux always runs **** better :) I am talking CPU wise, etc.

Well you can do a search for UT2003 and I'm sure you'll find some posts saying Windows has better performance as the port to Linux wasn't too good.

UT is preferd on a windows setup. Its just the way the dedicated server code is written for it. Where as counter strike is generally better on Linux.

www.serveitup.com (http://www.serveitup.com) is the best game hosting I have found. I use them for Tribes 2 (mod War2002) and the ping's are awesome. Its the #1 Tribes 2 War2002 server out there hands down. The wait to get on (to my server, which is usually 16 of 16) is the only downside. The price is $4 per client!! (at least of Tribes 2). And they offer a choice between Linux (!) and Windows servers. Its really an awesome service. I knew a couple of other guys who got a server from clanhosts/hosting(?) and their ping was not nearly as good as ours (on both US coasts and I have players from Australia and Hong Kong, so my ping must be ok out there too). Anyhow, sorry to go on for so long, I would recomend these guys.
