I'm planning on purchasing a flat screen, however they are really pricey. I'm fed up with this huge bulky monitor taking up all my space and I'm wondering what majority of people still have one?

Less glare on flat screen's aswell... LCD monitors are easy on the eyes. silversurfer 12-05-2002, 12:02 PM flat screen also have a sharper price. bleeds me dry. dalecom 12-05-2002, 12:11 PM I could get a 15" flatscreen but dont think I could go back to a 15, if the 17s come down in price then yeah I would get 1. ho247 12-05-2002, 01:00 PM I'm assuming you mean flat panel monitors and not normal monitors but with a flat screen :). Sometimes people refer to flat screens and they can mean either. I've got a flat panel monitor here due to the space saving factor on the desk and the sharper picture. I couldn't go back to using those large monitors. Alan grandad 12-05-2002, 01:00 PM My laptop's got a flat screen. :D Curtis H. 12-05-2002, 01:07 PM I'm still waiting for flat panels to come down in price so I can get a nice size screen for a reasonable price. Just ordered a new Dell with a standard monitor because of that very reason. phpcoder 12-05-2002, 01:49 PM Its a flat screen, just one of the big things :( dgessler 12-05-2002, 01:54 PM Yes, yes, flat panel. This box takes up more than half the length of my desk. I ordered a 17" flat panel LCD last week and it should be here soon, I can't wait. I heard my friend say it hurts his eyes, but both my brother and dad have one and the monitors look fine to me :D KualoJo 12-05-2002, 02:12 PM I have a normal monitor, but its a nice sony trinitron flat "screen" one. Its not flat panel, but I'm pretty happy with it. Would be nice to have a 17" TFT tho... :) progex 12-05-2002, 02:22 PM The only thing "bad" about LCD's are their poor performance in gaming. Otherwise, I would've bought one. :D ubergeek22 12-05-2002, 03:00 PM Where's the poll option for both? :D I've a 15" TFT and a 17" Diamondtron CRT side-by-side - both the same actual screen size though :stickout: ubergeek22 12-05-2002, 03:02 PM BTW Progex - my TFT is perfect for gaming (NEC) - sharper than my TV when watching DVDs. Many of the cheaper/older ones blur but not anymore! progex 12-05-2002, 03:29 PM Originally posted by ubergeek22 BTW Progex - my TFT is perfect for gaming (NEC) - sharper than my TV when watching DVDs. Could you tell me what model monitor you have, as well as the games that you've played? :) Synthetic 12-05-2002, 04:21 PM I have a standard 19" monitor. I really want a flat screen and I'll most likely be purchasing one next year, or on boxing day. viGeek 12-05-2002, 04:49 PM I have a ViewSonic 19" Pure Flat Monitor, I just upgraded from a Nec 15" Standard CRT. MAjor improvement... MBC 12-05-2002, 05:10 PM 21 inches of love (http://www.particlespace.com/office.jpg) for me... JayC 12-05-2002, 05:31 PM The weakness of an LCD flat panel for gaming isn't so much the sharpness as it is that they don't refresh as fast as a CRT. That might make movement appear "blurry," but it really isn't a question of sharpness. My setup is pretty much like ubergeek's -- I have a dual monitor setup with a 17" Trinitron (that's a flat screen CRT, not an LCD flat panel) and 15" flat panel. Most work gets done on the Trinitron -- which in every way except footprint size, energy use, and heat output, is better. |
