SRSimon 04-11-2010, 01:26 PM Which part of web designing you're interested in? I think it's easier to start on something what already exists - like a website templates (http://www.freetemplates.me), which is already coded well, simply start with replacing default images with your own images, then if there is a need, apply some changes to template code - it's good because you have an effect immediately, and in my opinion it's better to work on real samples than learning from book or even tutorial. aliceandmosee056 04-11-2010, 01:47 PM ^ nice suggestion. I am actually trying to learn CSS nd PHP. Flumps 04-12-2010, 04:07 AM best sites ive learned from and used are: w3schools lynda.com stephiely 04-12-2010, 08:39 AM I guess it all depends on what part of web designing you mean. If you want to start from scratch then a bit of HTML up your sleeve will be very handy. I would suggest html.net. The lessons you read through are very basic and good if you are new. The same website also teaches you css if you want to take it further. samantha_sync 04-14-2010, 03:45 AM As far as I'm concern, learning Web Designing is really not easy. You need to watch and hear tutorials or read books about Web designing if you are eager to learn. And you also have to do the actual designing so that you are able to experience the actual designing.:D ngocbebabe 04-14-2010, 05:28 AM I have found some tips fro web design and want to share with you: 1. Make sure your website is completely live before submitting to Search Engines'. 2. Try to include robots.txt 3. Make sure there is some static content for the spider to read. 4. Try and get on DMOZ if you are not already there. 5. Read each search engines. guidelines and follow them closely. 6. Use meta tags in all places that you can. HingeHost 04-17-2010, 02:57 PM pixel2life.com has a lot of different tutorials for different aspects of web designing. TBradley 04-17-2010, 03:22 PM I would have to say Lynda.com , it has a ton of tutorials that are very in depth, and you will learn a lot from them! Ariolander 04-17-2010, 05:05 PM From a design perspective I really like some of the articles Smashing Magazine (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/) puts out. Probably not the best resource for newbies but once you have one foot in the door they provide some interesting insight. webhoststudent 04-18-2010, 02:47 AM I also recommend Smashing Magazine and also net.tutsplus.com Both these sites provide practical examples for many popular web designing tricks. Palmetto Innovations 04-19-2010, 03:35 AM I like net.tutsplus.com and smashing magazine as well. Also, take a look at a list apart. They have pretty good stuff! ServerSitters_Sales 04-19-2010, 10:37 AM Hello, I'd recommend webmonkey.com. I've been using that site for over 10 years now, and have learned html from it back in the day with relative ease. Their site is also evolved now to include many of the standards in web design, from using dreamweaver and front page to manually coding in php, html and other mediums. It's designed for use from beginner level through admin. I'd certainly recommend a read-over to see if it's got what you need! vrahul11 04-19-2010, 10:23 PM I use W3Schools.com vrahul11 04-19-2010, 10:32 PM Also smashingmagazine.com is one of my favorites harjos 04-20-2010, 03:13 AM I found this site "how-to-build-websites.com". Some of them have been mentioned: lynda.com; w3schools.com; html.net and etc. Practice is what should really be looked into and that where templates use is gonna be of great resource. websitedesign 04-28-2010, 03:52 PM There is no easy solution. Learning how to design and code a website takes lots of time and energy! Then you have to learn marketing, SEO, etc... I would recommend getting your hands dirty and building a website from scratch. Books can teach you but nothing beats the real thing. -Use Xampp for hosting website on your computer to play around with. -If you have the resources try out Dreamweaver for coding as it can simplify things with their tutorials and features -It's a good idea to maybe start off with a pre built CMS such as Wordpress, Joomla, or Modx. -Tons of helpful tutorials and forums that will supply all the information and resources you will ever need for free... Have a look in my sig for more info...
