I'm a chinese student,My major is electronic commerce.So I want to part-time to open a online shop,but because I have no experience,scared money waste,so I want some people have the experience gave me some advice or comments.

- get a cheap average lamp hosting account (linux apache php mysql)
- install oscommerce (widest module support) or zencart or similar free cart there
- buy a template from templatemonster for the cart (osc, zencart etc) and install it
- get a merchant account somewhere (paypal or 2checkout are easy) and set up its module in your cart
- set up a shipping module
- upload your product catalog
- start promoting your store

Am sure theirs a host out their who will help and support you installing your ecommerce solution, What is your budget ?

first register domain then signup on shared hosting since you are a beginner i suggest you to go with free domain webhosting or signup for shared hosting which cost less then sign up on payment processors who are paypal/2checkout/moneybookers.....etc
