Is there a way to find out who owned a domain previously, I just registered a name this past weekend with plans for it in about 2 months, and its getting hits out of the blue, specific ones like blabla.com/blabla/blabla.html, so I searched google for the domain and all kinds of links poped up with descriptions to pages similar to what I have planned. Is this too weird or is it just me :) and would the previous register have any stake to it, like "oops I forgot to re-register it" I dont think it is a TM or anything, its just a city name and the word business, %$#@&*business.com
any thoughts, ideas ??

The only way they could claim it is if they have a copyright or tradmark on that name. For example, if microsoft.com forgot to renew their name, and I grabbed it, they could probably get it back.
(it'd be fun to watch them squirm, though).

You can look up the previous owner with Alexa.com. Generally speaking it will have the previous domain records.

If the domain is [city][business] and it's been pre-registered its hardly surprising it was used in the past for [city][business] - it probably just didn't work out for the last guy.

I did find the a contact using alexa, I also found out what the whole site looked like last year using http://www.archive.org/ which is just a great website, it's weird taking a look back at certain web sites
