Hi,

While OpenSRS releases the expired domains after the 40 days post expiry period,

for NetworkSolutions(it sucks!) you have to start flipping coin after 40 days.
As one domain i wanted to register is not released yet, has this info:
Record expires on 23-Sep-2002.
Record created on 23-Sep-1998.
Database last updated on 4-Dec-2002 13:42:53 EST.

What about the other Registrars? like Bulk, Daddy etc.?

Anything can be done to make any Registrar release the domain (after say 60 days?)

In a word, no. NSI doesn't follow any real pattern that I could find. I saw one that went for over 3 years, and was only released when it was finally found to have a lame delegation.

Don't hold your breath waiting...

You could try calling them and ask for it to be investigated. I've done this with a number of domains that expired at netsol and it worked out.

They did something, and then the domains were dropped back into the registration pool after a day or so.

I was able to register the domains after I called and they manually released them.

I have never heard of them being so co-operative before.

I can be a very nice guy when it is appropriate. Dealing with netsol seems to be much better when I am over-friendly and have a good "chat" with them. (As opposed to yelling, demanding, screaming, etc..)

I learned this trick after reading, "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. He suggested it might be better to approach people from a different angle.

So I call them up and ask how their day is going, sympethize with how difficult their job is, etc.. after about 5 minutes of BS chatting, I casually mention that I'm having a bit of a problem myself, etc...

Works every time.
