Hello, i run a vpn game service + SSL for mmo

I offer something similar to this.
http://lowermyping.com/games/world-of-warcraft/

And looking for people that have extra ips laying around that they would sell off very cheap. (that there not using)

I have a full detailed thread.
But don't know where to post it in what section...

Anyone point me where i need to go?

Thank you.

I don't see a service like that working even close to as well as they say...

Basically what your doing is just adding an extra point of presence in between the two...

So an example is instead of going:

Japan -> Chicago

Your doing...

Japan -> San Jose -> Chicago

How exactly is it supposed to lower your ping time?

because its faster to go to japan to san jose, and then the _theory_ is that the box in san jose has a bigger pipe than what you had and basically is acting as if you were sitting on a box in san jose to hit Chicago. So its a fast connection from san jose to Chicago. And then using your already ok/fast connection to san jose to make the overall path faster.

I suppose, but theres a good chance that your direct path from Japan to Chicago would be going through San Jose and relatively the same latency.

People in aus often swear by the proxies because they pick specific sites with known good routes overseas rather than whatever the end point happens to have announced.

For our own stuff, some overseas customers get significantly better speeds going through our proxy servers in CA vs hitting our primary site at colo4 directly.

Some backbones and routes are CRAP!

Example...

Cogent = Decent
Internap = Sexy...

*Please no flame for backbone wars*
but im pretty sure most of you will agree with me on this one...
