Hey everyone,
I'm wondering if there are any pre-packaged "cloud platforms" designed for a webhost?
Thanks

Thanks Cape Dave 03-31-2010, 09:43 PM I have always thought that would be an excellent idea. elektrica 04-03-2010, 06:57 AM I have always thought that would be an excellent idea. Yeah, jeeze I expected a bigger response to this thread. network82 04-03-2010, 07:29 AM IMO i don't think Cloud is at that stage yet. The Majority of Software Venders (such as Parellels) still don't really understand Cloud even though they go on and on about it like its the magic word of the week, and try to palm off Virtualisation as cloud computing, when its actually allot more then that. We've had to develop our own platform for managing and provisioning our hyper-v infrastructure and integrate that into our existing control panel in order to get something that I would consider phase one of cloud computing services.. Provision being the operative word. There isn't any commercial (or atleast decent) software yet that really does cloud any justice. There's lots of Virtualisation software, i'm sure people will post links, but nothing that provides the infrastructure intelligence required when utilizing multiple technologies to create the concept of cloud. I'm keeping a close eye on Microsoft Azure, because soon enough it will be cheaper to lease virtualised servers and/or virtual infrastructure from Microsoft then to colo equipment in a datacentre. |
