Advice, suggestion, or anything from anyone will be appreciated.
I am a web designer as well as a newest newest member of web hosting industry. I would like to offer web hosting service to my clients, and, hopefully, potential clients as well.
Things I have envisioned for this service:
1. Real-time domain registration – either myself or my client should be able to register their domain name on my website in real-time.
2. Once they have registered their domain names, they should be able to change/modify/update their domainname-related (changing A records, MX records, contact information, DNS servers, etc.) in real-time without my intervention through a web-based control panel on my website.
3. If my client purchased web hosting service, I would like for them to be able to add pop email account, check mail, check dish usage, etc. thru a web-based control panel on my website.
4. With web hosting service, I would like for my clients to be able to add additional feature to their current plan or move to another plan with one or more clicks in the control panel. All I need is a notification from the control panel, so I can bill my client accordingly.
I believe that most control panels provide a site manager panel for clients to satisfy number #3. Number #4 would be ideal, but not necessary.
However, I definitely want to realize number 1, 2, and 3. It would be ideal if the solution is integrated. By that I mean, once registered with any one or combination of the services (domain registration, web hosting, web design) that I offer on my website, the client would be issued ONE username and password to access ONE web-base control panel on my website to do everything mention in 1, 2, and 3. For example, if John Doe registered his domain and purchase web hosting service on my website, he would be given a username and a password to access the control panel to update his DNS info, or check his current disk usage or add email accounts. However, if he ONLY registered for domain name, then the same procedure is given, but all the options of check disk usage or adding emails should be dimmed. Likewise, should he just purchase web hosting only.
The integrated solution would be ideal, but an alternative solution is fine. For example, again, if John Doe registered domain name and web hosting then he would have to log onto two separated systems. If he wanted to check disk usages then he could log onto the web hosting control panel, and if he wanted to modify domainname-related (DNS, etc.) then he would log onto another control panel.
I will stop. Sorry guys for such a log entry, but I definitely need inputs from experts. Please advice me on how I can go about implementing these things that I wanted whether it’s a integrated solution or separated-piece solution. Is there software package for the integrated solution or individual software package....?
Thank you very much for any input in advance.
