Deankarl 03-30-2010, 03:12 PM Hi, I am currently in the stages of making the frront end of my hosting website and I am just looking to see what makes a good layout in your eyes. I'll ask questions as people reply. :)
Thanks,

My main concern is that the design be clean and easy to navigate with High Quality images. Don't add unnecessary elements.
Take apple.com as an example. They have a beautiful design and it's as simplistic as possible.
BH-Greg 03-30-2010, 03:28 PM The colors, Make it look prototype, Too much and some people might not like it.
Deankarl 03-30-2010, 03:43 PM Do you find it easier to code THEN design, or design THEN code?
Payton Designs 03-30-2010, 03:59 PM Design then code

Cape Dave 03-30-2010, 04:22 PM I like it. Pretty. Simple. That always does it for me.
Deankarl 03-30-2010, 04:26 PM :) Thanks. Haha
kpmedia 03-30-2010, 05:05 PM If you use sounds and your site is slow from lots of Flash, I move on top the next company.
Bluemile 03-30-2010, 05:21 PM I'd say make it clean, attractive and get your point across without to much "fluff".
Pinkfreak 03-30-2010, 09:05 PM i think you should search google and find the top host groups and then find an inspiration there is heaps of host scripts on the net download one and manipulate it

Really, it's way too early to give any form of constructive criticism. My suggestion would be to design around your content. Currently, it looks like you're going in blind. It helps having all your content laid out and figuring out an ideal layout from there.
Deankarl 03-31-2010, 02:15 PM Pinkfreak - i've tried it already. the actual designs are all pretty rubbish, 123-reg is good i guess but the others are a bit disappointing.
swebz 03-31-2010, 03:37 PM Do you the logo ready for the hosting design, please show then I can guide you a proper creative idea..
Thanks
dallas - zoom active 03-31-2010, 09:48 PM Often times, starting with the logo can help build the creative ideas for the actual website. The link provided in this thread is very good and showcases high quality designs.
swebz 04-01-2010, 05:50 AM Yes you are correct.. logo is the main part of the website.
Deankarl 04-02-2010, 10:24 AM I don't quite have a logo yet but I have this image I want to base it around.

NeadoDesigns 04-04-2010, 02:18 AM I like where your going with it. You've got a nice color scheme and made a good choice on going with a minimalistic approach. With that design type, you're conveying the message of functionality and reliability - what customers look for in web hosting.
