 | View Full Version : server/site defacing puder 12-04-2002, 03:02 AM it looks like i lefta security hole open and a few sites of mine got defaced. What is the best way to fix this and get everything back to normal??? drop me an e-mail please brendan@puder.com its pretty urgent I picked it uyp before my clients did and i wnat it resolved before 9am tommorow so they will be none the wiser. You can never know 100% your data contains integrity... Hope you get everything worked out. NexDog 12-04-2002, 03:10 AM It's possible that your FTP software was hacked. Mostly, FTP passwords are sent to the server in plain text form so it can be easy to crack simple ones. We always advise clients to chose a difficult and long password with uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers - FGy78Kl8Erg54D. Also, change it regularly. Server has to be kickstarted with a clean OS and fresh data uploaded. If you have an off-server backup, then that would be great. puder 12-04-2002, 03:46 AM that's what i though you would say....... for now i killed IIS and am reinstallgin atrht to get eth site sback online as soon as my backup machien is in place this machien has to got o new datacenter anyway so i cna kill and remormat everythign while it back at my office. pain in eth ass but at least i know what i'm dealign with....
