Hi

Has anyone been able to setup Multipath correctly when using a failover setup using Xenserver 5.5 ?

The URL http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx122824 explains how to do this, however on:

7. Insert the attached utility under /sbin on the host, and run the utility from the Host, (when using WinSCP, do not forget to chmod 777 the copied file):

this seems to be impossible as its a read only /sbin and apparently it can't be changed ( i assume so no one can customize XENserver too much).

There is several posts in their forums which are all unanswered, I know WHT usually is a great source for answers.

I appreciate your time for reading this.

Chris

On our XenServer 5.5 boxes, /sbin isn't read-only. By any chance is your server one that has XenServer installed on flash memory?

Yes! Is this the cause? Do you know a work around?

I suspect that is the cause. As for a workaround, I don't know, we don't have any XenServer systems running on flash memory. You may want to try asking on Citrix's forum.

Hi

no one replies to citrix forum, there is plenty of posts. I found from documentation this is caused by using Dell Edition which is read only. I would install the standard XenServer 5.5 but it does not detect the flash memory :( Dell also wont support me.

By any chance could you edit /etc/fstab so that it doesn't mount /sbin as read-only?
