View Full Version : Donhost - are they really this bad?

I'm a reseller - I had a mail server blacklisted by Spamcop for a client who has never sent any emails other than to their clients. I raised the issue on 25 Feb, chased on 1 March and then again on 4 March and 8 March before I finally got a response on 12 March to say situation was cleared. So non communication for 15 days despite 3 chasers!

Now the auto renewal set for a client domain has gone wrong. I used their help system & followed up with phone call. I was told all would be fixed & I would get email this pm. Since then I have had 7 emails from client & none from Donhost & client's site and emails are still down.

2 queries today at 123-reg were dealt with in 15 mins - & they run off an identical help system!

Anyone know how to get action at Donhost? Sadly I suspect Pipex are running them down and no one cares.

Cheers

Scott Hortop (New in these parts....)

Hmm, I've never heard of Donhost but maybe its time to move to a company that better fits your needs

Resolving spam-related issues can take time (to get IPs off a blacklist) but they could have kept better in touch with you, I'd say. A bad apple (cpanel) on the server can make it bad for the whole bunch. Bummer.

Donhost were independent but were bought by Pipex (UK listed company) several years ago. :(

Donhost are just plain rubbish, I'd give up and move on.

Normally outgoing mail would be routed to a clean new ip while waiting for the old ip removed from blacklist.

+1 for Donhost being awful.

We only keep a few legacy Windows accounts with them but every communication we have is painful.

I blame Pipex.

Sorry to hear about your poor experience with donhost. It sounds to me like its time for you to pack your bags and take your business elsewhere

I have never ever heard of that host, and I have been price searching for years. Just because the price is good doesn’t mean the service is take that from years of experience with multiple hosts.

I haven't used Donhost in years, I had a reseller account with them (was before pipex took them over).

They where alright, my biggest gripe at the time was that they would suspend a clients website and not inform me. Suspending the clients website because they broke the terms of service was not the problem, I would have done the same thing. The problem was that they never informed me, the first I knew about it was when the client would email me asking what was going on.

They did change this policy though, and started to inform the resellers.

True, they weren't great in the olden days ... but they're much worse now under Pipex :(
