does anyone know whats going on with 121host, or is anybody else having troubles with their server?

i have a windows plans and have had it for 11 months now and in that time its been pretty good.

but saturday it went down and has been down ever since, i cannot log into my ftp either.

so i thought id visit their forums but they no longer exist they just have a message up there saying....

121Host Web Solution will not provide Windows Hosting and if you have a Windows account please make sure to backup your data and if you don't have a username or password send an email to our support and make sure to include your domain name.

it has a link to carry on but it just sends you to the same page.

so then i'd though id visit the help desk but now thats gone as well and thats where they usually post problems.

its all kinda worrying as i hadnt backed up my forum in the last 2 weeks due to being on holiday.

if they've gone bust i guess thats life and it aint the end of the world seems i only have one month left it just means finding somewhere else now.

Did you not have any warning of this? What's their exact url? Sorry, not familiar with them.

Do they have a phone number contact? Check whois to see what's available.

nope sadly no warning at all, it just went down over the weekend and never came back since.

their domain is www.121host.net

no dont see a phone number on their site anywhere, its probably in their customer care area which dont seem to work for me.

how do you do a whois on them i rember finding out before but ive totally forgotnow.

my sites meant to be at www.puressence.org but its not there.

thanks for finding out all that info AmericanD, ive tried emailing them, ill just have to see what happens.

those phone numbers are mobiles which is odd but ill give them a try tomorrow evening i think, it would be good just to get my database back then ill look for a host elsewhere.

it quite a surprise with this company they've only been down once before and at that time they put up the reason on the helpdesk, apart from that they've been so reliable for nearly a year.

anyway cheers for the help guys, ill keep you posted on what happens.

I am in the same boat as all you guys that host with 121 on a windows plan I have been with them for over a year now and I have been screw by them quite a few times from haveing the server hacked to disk crashes, to bandwith problems if any one wants to see a list of my support email to them then they can.

I am still trying to get in contact with them to find out why my site is down and to get a refund on 8 months of hostign that they owe me. I called that number in the UK and it is a mobile but the woman I spoke with did not know any thing about 121.

I am happy to take these guys to the small claims court if I dont get my money back from them. Its so unprofessional just to stop hosting and not even email its users I see it is still hosting UNIX so they have not gone bust.

just a little update.

no reply to my emails yet, a stupid woman answered the phone didnt know anything about 121host.

ive only got a month left with them so they only owe me $5 which dont matter to much to me its just the fact that i really want to get me forum database back.

im going to keep trying to get in contact with them ill find a way somehow.

its sad that others are being screwed by them as well i kinda hoped maybe i was the only one, so then maybe it was an accident and things would have been solved but now it dont look like that will happen.

keep me updated on how things go for you two please.

I received a reply in less than 24 hours. They e-mailed me the FTP address with a username/password where I could retrieve my files.

aah its good you've managed to get all your files back, ive just emailed them now hopefully ill get the same response all i want is my files back and im happy.

im looking for another asp hosting service right now, any recomendations who i should go with.

i'll probably make a request in the other forum later see comapnies have to offer

I have emailed them many times and I have had nothing back from them at all plus they owe be about 10 months worth of hosting, and my domain name as well. I will email them again quoteing that they have given you access. Where you able to get your domain back ?

If you want I am looking for hosting as well if we both go for the same host we might get a discount ? do you want to work together and find a host ?

I have at last got a email back from them plus the website came back up today :-) but I dont think for very long so I am doing a mass download at the moment. I hope this will be the first steps to getting my site back the next step will be to try and get the domain back.

yeah but it looks like they're stealing from the poor and giving to the rich or in their case keeping in their own pocket.

anyway my website came back up today they've given me a password for my ftp account so im frantically trying to get everything backed up before its to late.

sorry, simonT i signed up for a new host last night with tokios.com they seem ok and cant find anything bad about them here so ill give them a try but im going on it month by month from now on its not worth the risks with so many dodgy companies out there.

i still think its a disgrace the way they just shut everyone's accounts with no prior warning but at least im getting my stuff back.
I dont come on here all that much usually but if people ever ask about 121host on here please tell them of our experiences i dont really like to see people signing up with bad hosts.

i really hope you get everything sorted with them simonT they should release your domain im sure just keep pestering them.
