After I login to WHM window opens saying HOSTNAME A Entry Missing
''The server was unable to lookup an an A entry for its hostname (host.servermedia.biz). This is generally because the entry was never added. However this could also be the result of your nameserver(s) being down. If you would like to attempt to automaticlly add the entry''

After I Click Here there is : Adding an A entry for your hostname
All parameters OK. Found everything
ADD THE ENTRY.
After I click that it says: Zone mydomain.biz does not exist, a new zone for host.mydomain.biz will be created.
Sorry, a DNS entry for host.mydomain.biz already exists, please delete it first

I delete it but after I login to WHM here we go from the start. What is it about. What is that Host name and must it have own IP.

Please help me

Right...

The server's name was cpanel.domain.tld...

I had an account setup called domain.tld..

I terminate that account....

Then deleted cpanel.domain.tld

Logged out of WHM

Box pop's up again and click add :)

my nameservers are:

On server is at the moment single account for mydomain
mydomain.biz

Can You explain me using that data ?

right....

1. login to whm as root
2. scroll down to "Dns Functions"
3. Select "Delete a DNS Zone"
4. Select and delete "host.mydomain.biz"
5. Logout of WHM
6. Log back in
7. Wait for the box to show and try and add it again :)

The server I manage has a seperate domain (for the resellers).

I did like You said and it said that he add it but after login in again here we go again:

''The server was unable to lookup an an A entry for its hostname (host.servermedia.biz). This is generally because the entry was never added. However this could also be the result of your nameserver(s) being down. If you would like to attempt to automaticlly add the entry, ''

There is no LOGOUT button in WHM , right ? Logout is shutting down IE , right ?

Edit:- Just been thinking..

1. Your name servers aren't setup

2. You could try....

"
Here we goooooo

1. Login to your domain cp
2. Create host.servermedia.biz with the main servers ip.
3. Login to whm
4. Delete host.servermedia.biz AGAIN
5. Logout
6. Login
7. Wait for the little box :)
8. And add it

Alsoooooooooooo give "host.servermedia.biz" time to resolve before adding it."

Edit again - Yea I think your name servers are messed up ;)
Another edit - Have you given it time for the domain to resolve?

Yes, maybe the problem is that domain is not yet activated with my nameservers. It passed about 40 hours since I update domain nameservers. maybe I still have to wait for that activation.

Nameservers are hopefuly OK, I think . After I set them up I tried to associate domain and it failed. After some 30 hours from that I tried again and domain registrar inform me that nameservers are found. So from that point I think nameservers are OK. Both having their own IP.

I can not login to Cpanel yet for my domain so this mean that domain is not yet unite with nameservers.
Do I have to add host.mydomain.biz subdomain to make it work ?

Thanks

Create the account mydomain.biz.

Go to edit DNS zone for that domain.

Add 3 A entries

host A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
ns01 A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
ns02 A xxx.xxx.xx.xxx

xx being your IP addresses the host IP will be the main server IP number, any other IP numbers you have for your name servers.

Now go to to the name register for mydomain.biz and register all 3 of the name servers host, n01,n02 using their IP numbers.

In about 24 to 36 hours the box will not pop up any longer when you enter WHM.

In the mean time just close the box and ignore it until the name servers resolve.

Under DNS management for my domain I have registered two nameservers :
ns01.mydomain.biz
ns02.mydomain.biz

Where should I input hostname ? There is no place for hostname to input. Just ns03,ns04,ns06........................

Thanks

I have seen this with Enom registrars control panel and there's nothing there to add your nameservers IPs, but with OpenSRS registrars, the contol panel allows IPs inclusion to your nameservers.

On topic, in root WHM just "Edit DNS Zones" and include the namesevers/IPs that you require for that particular domain.

3IPs= 1 for domain name, 2 for nameservers.... make sure you unlock(uncheck) the reserved(spares) IPs before assigning it.

domain.com IP: x.x.x.x
n1.domain.com IP: x.x.x.x
ns2.domain.com IP:x.x.x.x

Note: If the nameservers is for your own server, use only 2 IPs and add only the nameservers(Edit DNS Zones) as the default IP used to setup the web server will have already resolve to your domain name. If you are setting up a new reseller, then assign 3 dedicated IPs if you wish, 2 for nameservers, 1 for domain name in "Edit DNS Zones" as in above example.

At your domain registrar, just update the IPs for the nameservers and it should resolve within 24 hours but for registrars without the IPs inclusion in control panel, probably it will also resolve when their database updates its records.

If you have setup your first domain(servername=any.domain.com) & nameservers properly, the next time you login to your WHM, there would not be any problem of the web server not being able to find the nameservers.

What about reslover setup function. There is Primary resolver with default value 127.0.0.1

But it saying that I must leave it if my server is acting primary nameserver. When I open Manage Nameserver IPs under WHM there is list of all IPs and at the end there are 3 nameservers. Two I setup for my nameservers and their IPs and the third one NS1.xxxxx.org and his IP. This IP I use for accessing server.

Is this nameserver have to do something with hostname or not ???

If you have only one server, don't configure the server setup settings, just go to "Edit DNS Zones" and add the nameservers. Everthing should be setup okay for your first domain & nameservers.

In Edit DNS Zones there are:

-mail
-ns01.mydomain.biz
-ns02.mydomain.biz
-mydomain.biz

But when I open edit for NS02.mydomain.biz there are things that not look right.

In some lines there is NS01.mydomain.biz and not NS02.

Please look into Yours edit zones function and tell me if this is the case

Thanks

Mine has quite a lot of entries:) but in your case since it new, just select the "mydomain.biz" then scroll down where you see the ns01, ns02 and edit it to your needs and save it.

If you are using ns02 and not ns2, then when you update your nameservers at your domain registrar, you must use the nameserver ns02 and not ns2

You can safely ignore it and nothing happens in my experience.. you should just be sure that there is an A record for the hostname.

WHM probably looks in the local cache and then reports there is no entry; but then it is quite possible [and in the server I am managing that is the case] that the zone records for the TLD that hosts this hostname are elsewhere

Nameserver is different form hostname. Hostname is just hostname.domain.com and need not be registered in Internic. It just needs to resolve to a valid IP on the box for it is hostname.

NS on the other hand needs both a registration at the root servers and an A record.

I have a server which keeps saying this, I close that window and life goes on as usual :)

Edit the following file:
/etc/resolve.conf

Just add local lookup above your nameservers.....

Worked for me!
