I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong area but i had a quick question that hopefully one of you can answer. Say i have an image on my server that i use for various marketing campaigns. Is there anyway to find out if the image is being used in a current campaign or if it has just been sitting there? Im asking because I just took charge of the server here at my company. They have not kept it organized at all and it is full of useless images and all sorts of files. Any suggestions on how to sort the old stuff that is just taking up space from the stuff that is essential to the operation of the website. I realize its a vague description of what I want so if you need any more info I would be happy to let you know.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, this is a bit of a sticky situation.
Option #1 - create a new infrastructure for everything you use online going forward, and simply leave all of the mess that currently exists alone for a couple years. When you're convinced none of the old files are being used in any current campaigns, archive the folders. Then wait another couple months to make sure nothing's gone wrong, and then archive them offline, pulling them off the server entirely. It's a bit of a process, but it'll save you the aggravation of sorting through countless files now just because you want things to look tidier on the backend.
Option #2 - try to pull usage stats on every image. Any image that does not receive any views for the last couple months can probably be junked. You can push these into an archival folder, so they can easily be restored, just in case.
Option #3 - compile a list of every single campaign that is currently running, and check it against your images, renaming those you are certain are being used to something more useful (for instance, use the campaign name in the image name). Make sure you update your campaigns to reflect the new image names as well. Everything else, dump into an archive folder, and you know the rest.
Good luck getting everything organized!
