Hi

I have a small resellers account hosting a few old friends accounts but dont do hosting anymore. I am not technically inclined. I recently changed host and having some domain issue. I dont think it is my new host issue. I narrated the issue below and hope somebody can point me to the right direction.

All my domains are hosted with Directi. My main domain is v5hosting.com

Initially my domain nameserver was as below:
ns1.v5hosting.com - 206.uuu.xx.yyy
ns2.v5hosting.com - 206.uuu.xx.yyy

When I moved to new host, I changed the Child Server Address to the new IP:
ns1.v5hosting.com - 64.aaa.bb.ccc
ns2.v5hosting.com - 64.aaa.bb.ccc

I did not delete my accounts at the old hosts assuming it will point to the new server.

However, I was having issue whereby the hosting sites were pointing to old server and sometimes to the new server!

My hosts suggested to request the old hosts to delete WHM/Accounts.

In order to fix this issue, you'd need to change the name servers of the domain name to the following:

* v5domain.mercury.orderbox-dns.com

* v5domain.mars.orderbox-dns.com

Kindly make the necessary changes, and the issue that you are encountering would be automatically fixed within the next 24-72 hours.""


I didnt know what to do so last night I did this:

1.Delete All the accounts at my previous hosts except v5hosting as I cannot delete. WHM doesnt allow my own account to be terminated.
2. Went to Directi and changed ns1 and ns2 to vw1 and vw2 and update the child servers. So all the domain hosted changed to vw1 and vw2 and my nameservers v5hosting account is now vw1.v5hosting.com and vw2.v5hosting.com
3. Update my new WHM Basic Configuration nameservers to vw1/vw2.v5hosting.com
4. Reset all the accounts DNS to vw1 and vw2 in the new WHM

This morning, in my office, I can view my sites but my client and at another place couldnt view 2 of the websites. I can view all 5 websites from my pc.

I checked using urgentclick.com/ip_address_lookup.php for all the 5 sites and all of them pointing to the new servers

Questions:
1. Why the first issue whereby the sites are sometimes pointing to old server and sometimes to the new server when the accounts were on both server though i have changed the nameservers
2. back to issue 1, when i log on to cpanel, i go to new one whereas my client is logging to old cpanel
3. Will my change to vw1 and vw2 will work without any issues.
4. My test site of v5hosting.com is also not loading.

I hope somebody can point me in the right way.

once you have change the IP of the A record the domain should resolve to your new hoster. Did you clear you cache ? Maybe your ISPs caches the sites to reduce bandwith. So in maybe 24 hours the problem should clear up itself.

Otherwise you can PM me the domain name an I can check if the configuration of the DNS is correct.

I will wait and see what happens. Funny thing though, I created a new account, and it came up within minutes.

Where do I change the IP of the A record?

You can change the IP in the DNS settings. NOt sure which DNS service you use, but normally they all provide this. If you still have problems, you can use free dns service (sitelutions, for example) for your domain and point to your IP.
