I cant use wget to retrieve files but I can log in normally with an FTP client, i get authentication failed when i try to wget a file.... anyone?

I'm assuming this is in combination with Cpanel? If this is the case, switch back to pro-ftp. The pureftp - Cpanel interface is buggy as hell. Pureftp has a tendency not to accept user's passwords. When you change the password on a Cpanel account, the pureftp password doesn't change with it and I could name a few other things. I contacted Cpanel about the issues and they just told me they hadn't heared about the issues before and it was impossible that I was having them (while their forums have serveral posts about people with the same issues).

I just gave up. I may persue this further when Cpanel acknowledges there are issues.

One of our system admins installed this the other day and, I can log in with an FTP client just fine, but if I use ftp or wget in shell/ssh it doesnt work, authentication fails. So that puts me in a bind to move sites with wget :angry:
