Part 1

I Apologize for this but the public has to know the lack of customer support and care this company has shown.

11-26-02
Q: Server is down
A: The server is down for unscheduled maintenance. It will be back online in a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience.

11-27-02
Q: Server is still down this morning
Canned Response
A: If you believe your website is down Infinology urges you trouble shoot the problem yourself with the following link: http://home.infinology.com/faq/websitedown.php3 If your server services are not functioning please consult the Network Status page for updated Server Issues located here: http://www.infinology.com/networkstat/

If your issue is noted in the network status page, our system administrators have been notified and are currently working on it. There would be no need to contact Infinology regarding your account for that related issue.

A: win1 has been rebuilt. restoration has already begun and should be complete by close of business monday. please bear with.

12-1-02
Q: I have talked twice today to your tech support people via landline. The feedback I am getting is that indeed win1 has been rebuilt. But being only 1 of my 2 domains was restored my primary site geeknewscentral.com is still down.

I am also being told it could be as late as monday close of business before my site is backup at this point I can not even restore my site from my personal backup because the directory is unaccessible.

Etc Etc etc

Q: I was PROMISED Friday my site would be up Monday I was PROMISED Saturday my site would be up Monday. I was PROMISED Sunday my site would be up Monday I was PROMISED Monday my site would be up Monday I was PROMISED MONDAY NIGHT THAT IT WOULD BE LOOKED AT TUESDAY.

What is going on?
Who is in Charge?
Who is running this Company?
Who is the Person that is going to call me and apologize to me?

I do not understand how a company can be so negligent and not care about there customers. I can not even begin to imagine that you want publicized that you could not get a customers account back-online in under 5 days.

-------------------------------------------------------------
This company hates it's customers!

Surely there is a resolution to this, maybe request to be moved to another server, compensation for the down time.

Maybe ask them to help you move.

Computers are complicated things, meet them half way here a bit and you might find a very appreciative vendor.

I am assuming they are going through some problems, and just don't want to tell their customers about it, until the last minute maybe? -- Have you emailed them asking what kind of maintainence is being done?

You're the paying customer, I think you should be able to know. :)

Every one of those post went thru there automated ticket system. When they reply I get a e-mail copy. The Q and A were responses from them that were answered the messages with a Q without a A was were I was ignored.

After I found a phone number that worked I have spent time on the phone with them and they only have exuses. I have asked to be moved to another server offered to re-load my own site done everything I could. I can tell they are under some pressure but if they can't handle one server blowing a drive and replacement of that drive maybe they need to be in another business.

I have done everything to meet them half way but I have lost all confidence in them if I wasnt into them for a significant amount of money I would already be on another server.

Still 5 days is ridiculous .

I see a trend in webhosting were middle level service plans are stepped on and are more a pain in the butt and are given the proverbial finger.

I would like to find a webhosting company that truly cared all the time. Making money is one thing but over crowding servers and milking every penny seems to be the norm. Many good companies are out there but for every good one we see 9 fly by nite outfits that are just milking every penny.

I utilized infinology as the bandwidth needed exceeded the bandwidth I had available on several personal servers for the domain. I could have put this site on one of those servers but opted not to because I cared about the paying customers on the other servers it would have not been fair.

Bingo. Right now the Web Hosting industry is one of those "fad" industries. Everyone and their mother's pet cat has a web host. It'll start to thin out when people realize that, like anything else it requires lots of hard work and you don't get rich over night :)

They moved me to another server this morning and it was back-online but now the problem is none of the CGI scripts are working and they cannot figure out why.

I dynamically update the site with Movable Type which relies on 4-5 perl modules to be loaded.

They have yet to offer compensation I will ask once everything is back to normal They have not had the guts to call me back. I guess the main thing is the site is at least back on-line and some of my advertising campain money is left from last week.

Felt nice to have to advertisin click throughs going to a under construction page for 5 days though. For those of you that are aspiring or actual Webhost the above is not the way to run a company.
