All i wanted was to point a domain to a specific directory.
I thought it would be so simple. (I have a windows reseller hosting account)

My host told me to goto the ISAPI and/or IISURLRewrite sites and read ... and read .. and read.

All I can gather from those, is that to 'do' anything, I have to use an application like the URLRewrite 'Module'.

Should I be able to run that from my Host Control Panel ?
If it's somemthing I have to do on my own pc them I'm stuffed because I dont have IIS7 (dinasaur i am).

Can anyone explain any of this to me in a simple a,b,c style ?
Like you would explain it to a 3 year old ?

Many thanks for any enlightenment.

(why do the simplest of jobs become so commplicated?)

Hi,

This is very Simple, what you have to do is: -

a.Login to the Hosting Control Panel

b.Find the Domain you want these changes to be done

c.Click to view its properties and there you will get some field like “Home Directory”

d.Go to edit this, which will ask you to select the path and here you can select the directory you want this to point

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that .. but I guess it all depends on the control panel your particular host has provided and the functionality therewithin !?

As you seem to have that with your host, mind sharing who you're with ?
Windows, right ?
