i got a new keyboard and plugged it in and what not and it doesn't work. So I plugged my old keyboard in which was funcitoning 10 minutes ago and it doesnt work either. I tried both keyboards on a different computer and both are working perfectly well. When I plug the keyboard in all the lights light up and then go off and the keyboard isn't working. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and what I could do about it?

unfortunately sounds like a short of some type on the motherboard (where the inputs are located).
Sucks dude!

Did you plug it in while it was on? Sounds like you fried your ps2 keyboard port. Go get a adapter for serial I'm sure one was in the box.

This may sound stupid but make sure you didn't plug it into the mouse port.

Had this same problem last week. Powered down the computer, waited a few seconds, booted back up, and it was fine...

Oh true. I got a usb logitech optical mouse, its running usb. You can just take the ps2 to serial adapters they give with mouse's I guess and use it on your keyboard.

I always get PS/2 to USB adapters... PS/2 to Serial is a new one for me. I guess I'll have to check that out...

I ordered one of these and it came. But it doesn't seem to work. I have tried the adapter with two keyboards on three computers. And no dice. Is there anything special you have to do to make a PS/2 keyboard work with a USB port?
