very bad thing to do so. They were one of the favorite choice for resellers.

Base slab $7.49 > $7.79 (.com)
$500 slab $6.95 > $7.25 (.com)

They were selling below cost at $6.95. It was only matter of time before they followed resellone's lead and increased prices to cover costs.

Note that on July 1 2010 Verisign will increase the registry fee from $6.86 to $7.34. The additional ICANN fee will remain at $.18. So the base price to the registrar will increase from $7.04 to $7.52

An email is being sent out to all our resellers as I type this message. Meanwhile, you can view a full break down of our price changes here: http://resell.biz/content.php?action...w-pricing.html

We held off increasing our prices for as long as possible, but unfortunately with the rise in fees at some registries it became inevitable

I would say, rates there are still quite cheap.

Also remember, if you are going for cheap it means CHEAP, whether its about rates or product or tricks.

Big companies can play the cheap game and get away with it. But if you want to provide quality services peacefully, better do business with providers selling products at reasonable price.

we have to understand that this awesome pricing would have an end, sooner or later they would stop selling at loss.

It's still a good offer, where can you register domains at below 7.25$?

myjet,

Why are you sad ? resell.biz was selling at a loss for long, godaddy still does that what with the coupons they distribute to get business.

How long can anyone sustain their business by selling at a loss. Resell.biz can afford to do it since its part of uk2 group and can offset their domain loss by selling hosting which is a very lucrative industry.

I think 7.25 would also be a loss for them.

That is also one of the reason why i like resellerclub.com, they never sell at a loss, i had a word with my Account Manager there and i tried my best to bring my price low since many registrar were providing at a lower rate but he wouldnt budge from his price saying we wont want to be a loss leader. I agree with them , i wouldnt want my provider to shut shop just cos they sold their stuff at a loss.

Yeah Techno, i heard of the impeding price hike in July 2010... damn this verisign guys :)

As elmister say, 7.25 for you is still a good pricing.

Also, what is with this threads where someone is criticizing a registrar and somewhere they put up a proposition of providing you with a better pricing. Like the OP has done on post #8 :)

Resell.biz was my favorite... :D

There seems to be a huge jump in transfer price.. from 5.95 earlier :(

Also,my tier level has been changed to a lower one.. dunno why

can you compare their prices with godaddy and namecheap including prices with certain coupon codes?

With godaddy coupon I just renewed few domains for 7.47.. earlier I was planning to transfer them to resell.biz... Seems godaddy is better, however, godaddy doesn't offer free private registration. With namecheap one always has issues related to coupons..

well resell.biz not only changed there prices (the price change I am OK with) but they also dropped me down a tier i was on the top tier $6.95 before the price change and now they put me on $7.79 (.com) so I will be off unless this changes as I can not sell to my sub-resellers less then I pay as if I have to at lest if I go to Netearth One at lest they do live support so there would be something for the higher price.

I thought resell.biz is still the cheapest domain reseller now ( with $0 deposit )...

smarty-boots

only by $0.10 and I would pay $0.10 per domain (.com) for live support

Did it too me too.

I will be emailing them and see why this has happened.

I don't mind the price increase, but why change my slab? They are charging me even more when I should have the lower prices with the slab I always had......

If they don't change it.. they can except my years of business gone and moved else where.

My favorite registrar right now is:
http://www.internetbs.net (registered in the Bahamas :pimp: :D)
Transfer @ $6.90 for .com, Renew @ $6.95
However, .us domains aren't supported (using MyDomain.com for those).

In our country (The Netherlands) there is law that requires suppliers to inform their clients of price changes at a reasonable time before they become effective. Secondly, the customer is permitted to change supplier if the pricechange does not meet their expectations. The supplier will need to offer the customer time and possibility to do so.

The situation described in this topic can therefore not take place.

I would assume that there is international legislations that require suppliers to act similar to the law I just described?

Does resell.biz mention anything on price changes in their T&C's?

All I know is they changed the slab for all users, who didn't use up at least $500 with their time at resell.biz.

I know the price hike was going to happen soon.. It had too, because they were underselling. The biggest problem for me has been the slab change, so most of us are paying even more now, than we should be with out earlier slab.

Anyways as I stated earlier.. I will look around for a new provider. That is if they offer a lower rate than resell.biz and/or provide better support.

Everybody who joined stargate was given a special slab during that time.. Now all such privileges have been taken back by resell.biz. They have their company and as such they have set their own terms and are not interested in honouring any commitments to ex-stargate customers.

To all ex-stargate customers (like me)

We got our accounts some years (in 2006) ago at an exceptional price.
If after these years you didn't spent 500$ it means you are not a reseller, you are only a regular user with a few domains.

How can a reseller not spend 125$/year?

Add some money to your account to get the higher slab and renew the domains before next 1st July, prices will rise again 1st July, renew today, save tomorrow.

Yes, I am not a reseller.. I have my own domain portfolio.. I started using my old stargate account from last year only (I was a bit sceptical earlier).. added about $300 during an year.. In fact, I transferred all my domains from namecheap to them and started transferring domains from godaddy recently..

My learning from resell.biz's action or message that resell.biz is communicating to me is: They (resell.biz) don't want me as a client any more.. good enough, I have other better option where I will take my domains.. already, I have stopped transferring my domains to resell.biz...

My 2C : never have your domain with just one provider.. spread out the risk

yeah I did the same too. Moved form Namecheap. However, I haven't decided where else to move yet.

This slab thing has got me a bit angry.

I can see why they did it, but I feel once a customer is in a certain package. Well, they should NOT be removed. I don't see anything in their TOS, that states they will boot you off the reseller slab if you don't use up $500.

I guess at the end of the day... we all forgot. This is US2/UK2 we are talking about. They just want to empty are wallets anyways.
