well you get what you pay for... how do you think those 300 a month hosts stay alive?

i agree - you do get what you pay for.

BUT

United Colo will be in a great position in a year or two. Give them time to sort our their major network problems - (it is a massive network) and they will be market leaders.

I mean - who can offer Dual Xeon Prosessors - on a 100Mb line - with 5000GB of transfer a month (thats an avarage 15Mb/sec connection) all for $699

Erm.... no one.

also note: having a server screw up on a scripting-related matter is not the fault of the datacenter, its the fault of idiotic clients or stupid administration... :P

i got 4 of 'em... they are okay... i mean... w/o more ram, can't really take advantage of it... :(

I made a post a couple weeks ago on these guys and they were rotten for me.

I ordered a new server and they couldn't even get it online for 5 days. It was messed up the entire time. I couldn't use it because the connection kept timing out. I tried to access it from 4 different States. No access at anytime. I never edited one file on the thing.

Anyway, I told them to just forget it since they couldn't figure it out and they kept my $100. No Refunds (no matter how bad we screw up). Their customer service was horrible.

Meanwhile, I went to Rackshack the next day and was online and in business in one day.

My other Rackshack server began to have some problems that I suspected to be hardware related and they swapped out my server within a day and transferred all the data. That was pretty cool.

So, I'd caution anyone out there that the plethora of complaints in this forum (do a search) about United Colo are probably legit.

Maybe if they get their act together and really do offer a ton of fast bandwidth with low downtime I might try again. But That'll be at least 6 months from now.

In the meantime, I've got another project that will place 4 servers somewhere. Probably Rackshack or FastServers.net.

.... why ? I mean, if just 1 give to you problems, then why keep 8, this is too dumb or newbie to be true, sorry.

It's like, "it's too dam bad that I will buy another 3" :confused:

i haven't noticed any downtime today...mrtg is straight green all the way across...

And if there was downtime I'm sure we would all see a post about it :D
