KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 05:36 PM Hey guys and girls, I just wanted to know what everyone wanted fro Christmas? I am running out of things to put on my list, and was wondering if yall could help me out? I would like to get something to do with technology. Does anyone know of any really cool devices? Also please be reasonable, something between 0-1000 USD? Thanks in advance,

KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 05:41 PM Nice Phone, how much is it?
flitcher 12-02-2002, 05:47 PM I want a Red Rider Carbine Action Two Hundred Shot Lightning Loader Range Model Air Rifle, but of course I'll shoot my eye out. :stickout:
KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 05:51 PM Be careful with that baby! I love paintball.
flitcher 12-02-2002, 06:01 PM Heh. We'll it's actually a quote from the movie A Christmas Story. You know, it's that movie that gets played a bazillion times during the holiday, but you never quite seem to get bored of it. :)
Bannaz 12-02-2002, 06:22 PM I've been meaning to purchase a new phone for a very long time now, since my old one has kind of gone past its usability really!
So I'm going to buy myself a T100 for Christmas.
mind21_98 12-02-2002, 06:28 PM I want peace on earth. Oh yeah, if possible I want a Playstation 2 with a bunch of games and that one addon that lets you run Linux on it. :D
KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 06:29 PM You can put linux on a PS2?
IGobyTerry 12-02-2002, 06:39 PM Yeah, it comes with like a 50 gig hard drive too.
KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 06:40 PM Why would you want linux on a PS2? It has no nic does it?

299 € with a 12 month contract (various GSM providers)
KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 06:51 PM No, thats free, I just want to learn linux, nyone have any advice?
secludo 12-02-2002, 07:01 PM -New motherboard (have a new CPU/motherboard I got for free and the motherboard is crap)
- Leather desk chair
- 128MB memory stick for my digital camera
- Windshield wiper blades
- Vans, "Graph" in smoke/black. I tried to buy them myself a few weeks ago but they didn't have my size.
- Cooling fans, and maybe a new case :stickout:
- A snake aquarium. I bought a brand new one for about $100 a few months ago and had just a small problem... let's just say that what I set on top of it was a tad bit too heavy and the entire top lid shattered, and the front cracked. Petco wouldn't take it back :stickout: And my poor ball python is stuck living in a plastic storage box.

Mirrors:

However I personally say to get Slackware instead.
http://www.slackware.com/getslack
KyleLC23 12-02-2002, 07:04 PM It thought redhat was the best? What is good about slackware?
secludo 12-02-2002, 07:13 PM RedHat isn't necessarily the best, it's just the most widely used.
Slackware is often considered as being more difficult to learn for people new to Linux, but I started off with it and have not had any troubles. Aside from that, it's considered to be more stable and more secure, and there are fewer bug reports. New versions aren't tossed out constantly, because they put more time and effort into it and into making sure it is done right.. It also sticks to the standards more closely than other distributions.

filburt1 12-02-2002, 11:10 PM Digital (MiniDV) camcorder. Panasonic makes a kickass one ($4000 though) that can record at 24 FPS, just like the movies

WoodShedd 12-02-2002, 11:52 PM Funny thing is is that i dont really want anything. Because i'm a student and have trained myself to be extremely frugal (read cheap) that i only tend to want the things that I need.
I'd like a little money, and maybe a maid so i wouldnt have to clean up my suite all the time.
even better, a free fully managed home in a nice area. (by managed I mean cooks and servants and a guy to open the garage door for me)
i'd also like a digital camera and some new clothes and maybe some good ski pants.
But i dont really need any of this stuff and could easily live without it (except the money)
I do know that I'm going to New Orleans and taking a cruise for a week... All expenses paid. I've got connections :D

I'll chime in with that. Lost my TV to a thunderstorm recently and have been viewing everything on a tiny 13" ever since. Any TV will do now. :D

My tv finally got bad enough that I decided it was time to get a new one a couple months ago, so off to the big CC I go (Circuit City)
They had a really nice 53" Hitachi HDTV $2399 witha free leather chair and ottoman.
I was like "dude I don't need that chair, I got a big old leather recliner and it is 10 times the chair of that thing" so he was like how about I take $200 off the price ($2399 - $200) so I was like "hell sounds like a plan.
As we were getting things ready to checkout he was like "does your DVD player have progressive scan?" I was like "nope, give me one that does since I'm buying this big expensive tv" so he was like "we've got 3 models under $200 with it, choose one and I'll throw it in for free. So I chose a Panasonic that also did MP3's and CDRW media.
Then as he was putting in the sale he was like "oh crap" I was like what? and he said "we're out of the 53 inch models" so I said well give me the 57 inch model then for the same price so I ain't gotta go next door to Best Buy. He was like "sure I'll do that".
Then as I went to pay, my CARD DIDN'T GO THRU guess it was more than my daily limit, so I had to leave and go to the bank to get the cash for him, and you know the whole time he was like "ain't no way this scraggly lookin fella with his sweat pants and tank top got no money" but I came back paid him and they delivered it that afternoon. And man it does look sweet :D DVD's RULE on that thing, and with my surround sound stereo it's pretty nice, though my surround system is an el cheapo I really want to upgrade it, heck my computer speakers give better sound! (Cambridge Soundworks 510D's are definitely recommended to anyone who wants good sound on their pc).

epitomized 12-08-2002, 12:27 PM I want a Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa, priced at a low $86,525 USD.
If the bean counters determine that November was a good month, I am asking for an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante, priced slightly higher at $145,000 USD.
Maybe daddy will read this post and get the hint.

Very poor spending/investment decisions cost him the fortune nearly as quickly as he made it. Easy come, easy go . . . right?
