View Full Version : Hostnine, Eleven2, or theprimehost
movemaine 03-11-2010, 10:46 AM Hostnine, Eleven2, or theprimehost?
or do you have a better recommendation? Budget's not an issue (start with reseller and will eventually move to a dedicated).
Important factors -
servers that are not overloaded.
decent limits (eleven2 and hostnine are good here)
great customer support
backups & restores
HostXNow 03-11-2010, 10:54 AM Would help if we knew how much diskspace and bandwidth you needed?
movemaine 03-11-2010, 10:57 AM I run a lot of Wordpress, Joomla, SugarCRM, - database driven sites.
30/300 plan would not work for my needs.
I need large disk & bandwidth - 100/1,000 minimum but preferably more. (in U.S.)

If your looking for more i allready suggest looking into a VPS to avoid any issue's.
inspiroHost 03-11-2010, 11:12 AM I've never used them, but HostNine has an interesting setup -- multiple datacenter locations. I'm sure you could work that to your advantage.

How about HostGator, the Silver plan looks good for your needs?
ldcdc 03-11-2010, 02:34 PM I would definitely not place my bets on being able to push hundreds of GBs with those applications you have there. Now, if the traffic is just "desired" you can start small and upgrade as needed to more expensive hosting/dedicated.
JixHost 03-11-2010, 09:32 PM I would go with Host9

Why? Other than the fact that your website is probably a host9 reseller.

We have our servers directly with Softlayer. A simple ip check with our domain would reveal this. I take you are new to hosting so I can't blame you for your ignorance.
XeHSean 03-11-2010, 10:59 PM Have you tried searching for reviews of those companies to help with this decision? I'm not sure about the other two, but I know that hostnine has a number of reviews on these forums

No, its just that you provided absolutely no information as to why to go with host9. (hence the assumption)
movemaine 03-12-2010, 02:05 PM Starting out is horrible - I float between wanting a reseller package (so I have more capital to advertise, etc.) and going full dedicated so that I have complete control....
I realize every newbie goes through this - but it's a mental challenge for me...lol.
So i'm looking for some input and if anyone has experience with these companies, I would appreciate a word or two.
That said - eleven2 & hostnine have been great in terms of answering my questions. Theprimehost does answer my tickets, but their response has been slower with the several questions I've had (and there's no live chat - what's up with that?)
ldcdc 03-12-2010, 08:12 PM going full dedicated so that I have complete control....
Do you have the training to cope with the responsibility that comes with complete control? Some people become programmers, some webmasters, some train to be server admins. It takes time to learn either job well.
Zach C. Nelson 03-12-2010, 10:02 PM I did some business a while back with Eleven2. They are a straight forward company, I would definitely recommend them.
WiseOwlMedia 04-01-2010, 01:30 AM I'm a reseller, I resell through ThePrimeHost.
They've great looking plans but their service sucks. I experience lags every night around 12AM PST and its ANNOYING. All my bigger websites I am in the process of moving to a new server.
ThePrimeHost in my opinion offers "great looking packages" but don't really stand by their "great services". Technical Support is horrible, their answers are always one line, quick, simple and never take time to explain anything to you.
On one good Note, Darryl the Owner is amazing! His staff I can't speak much good for.
professionalhosting 04-01-2010, 03:06 AM if upgrading to a dedicated server is the ultimate goal, I would recommend a vps server ,, (more server administration experience will be gained from a vps server)
ThePrimeHost 04-01-2010, 10:52 AM I'm a reseller, I resell through ThePrimeHost.

Howdy Wisekal,
No other users have reported any lag issues at midnight such as yourself. Can you PM your ticket ID's so I can bring the hammer down for any "one line answers"? We'll get you squared away.
Best Regards,
Darrell
WiseOwlMedia 04-01-2010, 10:03 PM Hello All,
Darrell has since contacted me concerning my issues listed above regarding "ThePrimeHost". Quick to correct and want to resolve these issues as well.
See what I mean, Darrell is an amazing guy as I've stated before and has said he has discussed these issues with his tech support staff and will ensure they do better in responding to their clients.
He seemed very displeased with my comments and wanted to quickly correct my overall opinion on their services and is doing a fantastic job of it.
Guess in time I will provide another review.
Kind regards,
Bryce
