 | View Full Version : Running server from home yowen 12-02-2002, 11:25 AM lets say I use 10gb a month, what kind of connection would I need? mostly hosting html/php/mysql and images... I am talking about a connection that I could afford and is fast enough... Is there SDSL connections or maybe even ADSL connections fast enough for that? mpope 12-02-2002, 01:34 PM Hosting on dsl is not such a good idea unless you have no need for a decent uptime. If you only need php mysql, etc. it would probably be better to just get a hosting account from a reputable web hosting provider. It will be much cheaper than a DSL line, and will probably have better uptime. Now, if this is something that you're just going to be toying around with (for fun or learning, etc.), then sure go for a DSL line. I've seen people host sites on a 256k up/down DSL line with no major problems (except for 4 hour outages here and there ;)). pattox 12-03-2002, 12:36 AM depends who the dsl provider is,some dsl is up 24/7 /364 days a year :D clocker1996 12-03-2002, 12:40 AM I say go for it.
