View Full Version : Any program to check multiple email accounts
jolly 12-02-2002, 07:55 AM Is there any good program through which we can check multiple email accounts at one time. And everytime we recieve any email we get alert message.
It's very hectic to login each account. Thanks.
richy 12-02-2002, 10:38 AM Eudora.
jolly 12-02-2002, 10:48 AM I don't want emails to download to my machine. I was to check them from website only. Like yahoo don't provide now pop facility.

Outlook Express. Outlook Express is a website? ;)
Jolly, try myway.com -- it's a new portal, and their email section does alllow multiple pop accounts.
On top of that, their pages load quickly, they have no ad banners or popups, and their search results are pure Google.
cactus 12-02-2002, 12:32 PM Yes I agree use your default Outlook Express. Add as many pop accounts and send/receive all accounts at one go.
Tools->Accounts->Add (configure as many pop accounts as you like)
He wants web access to pop accounts, not a desktop email client.

Bannaz 12-02-2002, 01:00 PM Posted and resolved your own topic. Excellent. :)
cactus 12-02-2002, 01:06 PM Why would you go to all the trouble to install a Mail client to check all your different email accounts?? when you could have easily configured your default Outlook Express to do the same thing??
Bannaz 12-02-2002, 01:17 PM Cactus,
Outlook Express 'downloads' the e-mails, therefore people who use more than one PC, would not benefit from this, as their e-mails would be scattered all over the place.
So, if they wanted to check their e-mails in work, and at home, this would be an efficient procedure.
cactus 12-02-2002, 01:24 PM OK I understand it now what he/she wanted as I was a bit confused earlier. So JayC :D was right he definitely needs a web access in this particular case.

Well, even though it's not what Jolly was looking for, many people do install a different mail client because Outlook Express is one of the worst email clients available -- especially weak in areas like handling multiple accounts.
If you're satisfied with how Outlook Express addresses that task, great... but it probably means you haven't used The Bat, or Eudora, or Pegasus -- all of which do that job better; and do a better job of handling large mailboxes with thousands of messages, handle attachments better, and bring fewer security concerns.
cactus 12-02-2002, 01:47 PM Yes, I have tried Eudora,Pegasus,The Bat,Mobile, Calypso, etc but have never liked it and now besides Outlook Express, I have Phoenix Mail that I used and like it very much.
jolly 12-02-2002, 01:49 PM Outlook Express is out... It kill resources of machine. And do you like switching identities in Outlook Express... :(
And the reason is so that whenever I get email I come to know instantly. Instead of checking email accounts again and again.
And now guys lets take one step ahead now how about email alert on your mobile phones.....
And cactus I am male

cactus 12-02-2002, 02:07 PM Oops! Sorry jolly my apologies. Although Oulook Express is not favoured by many, I have added some security measures like installing Norton and ZoneAlarm to my computer and so far it looks good without anyone trying to get in/out of my computer such as some free dowloaded software/programs that has some kind of spyware incorporated into their software that stay domain in your computer and can do much damage if you are not aware of it.
jolly 12-02-2002, 02:16 PM "spyware incorporated into their software "
I am not aware of this part.
cactus 12-02-2002, 02:38 PM I don't know, ZoneAlarm will notify via a popup window if any software is trying to access from/to you computer and I usually dis-allow it, for example Netbios, Gartor, etc.
From the ZoneAlarm logs:
Block Intrusion:
61 Intrusions have been blocked since install. 52 of those have been high-rated.
Inbound Protection:
The firewall has blocked 28 access attempts.
Outbound Protection:
8 programs secured for Internet access.
Email Protection:
Mailsafe is currently active. 0 suspect email attachment quarantined.
The above is for my computer & emails(Outlook Express) and added protection with Norton... I will cut it short here.
Looking at the log files one sometimes wonder what would have happened if you didn't protect your computer/mail clients???
