Hullos,

I have been trying to make this work for the last 2 weeks in vain so please please i really need your help.

I am using a rackspace windows server 2003 cloud server. The application runs fine on the said cloud server even when i use the real url. i.e. trackafrica.com:8080 and so do the sample apps that come with tomcat.

However when i access the same apps from other computers on the internet, i get a "server is taking long to respond" error.

I have set the DNS records as per the rackspace support wiki.

Am i missing anything anywhere for the apps to be accessible to every computer on internet??

Will be very very glad to receive a positive response.

Regards

Did you contact Rackspace support team for this purpose?

Yes i did ask them for help on this but they say they don`t offer support for cloud servers but that everrything with my account is ok.

So i really fail to make out what the problem is?

Does softsys offer testing of java applications?, i need to test this application before i can commit serious funds for its hosting.

Ah, I thought they were all managed. With regards to testing applications, we do not provide such services and you will need to perform testing at your end itself.

Hi,

A few things.

Did you verify that the DNS is correct?
trackafrica.com resolves to 173.203.225.17

You said you could reach the server, was this locally?
In that case, did you check if the firewall allows incomming connections to port 8080?
Sensible defaults tend to block port 8080, but you tend to bypass the firewall when you connect from the local computer.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Hi,

Was it the firewall?
Glad you got it up and running.

Best of luck!
