Hi all! I'd like to be a reseller. I am new to this business, but searching heavily for a long time -that's because to find a reliable vendor is hard, to find a vendor that would satisfy my needs is hard as well-.

Since I am new, I want to start small. I did a search on target market and I think if I offer services to personal Web site owners, home based businesses, and small businesses it would be at least a healthy start. Besides, I would learn more about the business.

Therefore, I think I need at least 50 MB disk drive, 3 GB monthly transfer. I prefer unlimited domain hosting, unlimited e-mail forwarding, and unlimited e-mail addresses allowance, auto responder, promotion to search engines, Web site statistics. I also would like to offer my clients full CGI-BIN support through vendor. The vendor should provide me reseller template and contents free of charge and 24/7/365 customer service no matter what!

So, my question is; do you think above requirements are wise enough to start the business, because I don't think personal Web site owners, home based businesses, and small businesses would want more than that, am I right? Maybe addition to those, it would be shopping cart, SSL, and merchant account. If so, please tell me, I'd like to hear your opinions.

Lastly, my last but not least question is, which vendor(s) do you think can offer these requirements? I already checked AIT, it's expensive but gives me everything and from what I read from this forum you guys don't prefer AIT. Venturesonline and Voxtreme are cheap but they don't provide reseller template. By the way I dislike setup fee, so I think Venturesonline's and Voxtreme's prices are great.

Thank you in advance for any insight!

May the success be with you!

Hi! 8 viewed my posting, but there is not a posting so far. Is my thread so long, if so just let me know, I'll try to be brief. After all, it was my first thread at this forum. ;)

that hosts can't refer to their own services here, so give it some time. My goodness, you are impatient.

Now, as to your post:

I think I need at least 50 MB disk drive, 3 GB monthly transfer. Fine if you are referring to just your site, but certainly doesn't leave space for reselling. I prefer unlimited domain hosting, unlimited e-mail forwarding, and unlimited e-mail addresses allowance, auto responder, promotion to search engines, Web site statistics. Many bulk reseller packages can provide a large quantity of these items you mention. Just remember, there is no such thing as unlimited. However, if you say limited only by the size of the account, then ok. I also would like to offer my clients full CGI-BIN support through vendor. Almost all would offer this. The vendor should provide me reseller template and contents free of charge and 24/7/365 customer service no matter what! A reseller template and contents? Most will not provide that. 24/7/365 for you or for your customers? Many will provide for you. Some will provide for your customers as well.

Before you start a business any kind of business you really need to do lots of research and and really learn about the industry you are wanting to enter. In your case, I think you should read as many post availble on this site as possible for a few months before you get started. My opinion is based on if you really want to start a profitable business that will remain alive for a long time you really need to know as much about it as possible. It's like when you meet someone just because they look attractive doesn't really mean you want to marry them tomorrow, you first need to get to know that person and their friends see what they have to say abou them. Same goes for a business, I wish you the best of luck...

Thanks Incognito! Well why do you think at least 50 MB is not enough. Let's say if I find customers that do not want e-commerce package on their Web sites and each need 5 pages (just a figure), I can have 100 clients (approximately or less). Is this wrong assumption? Besides, I can't picture 3 GB monthly transfer like I just did on disk drive. Could you give me some insight?

As far as my research only AIT provides reseller template free of charge so far. But I am still searching for others.

The 24/7/365 customer service is for me of course.

Thanks again.

take up several affiliate programs and see how your clients like them....and then dive in for a reseller plan

You are assuming your space and bandwith wrong. The specs you are saying now are barley enough to get even a decent site up and running, You might want to look into about 2 gb of space, and aroun 30 gb of bandwith, And buy a reseller account, in which you can upgrade

Well anyhow...

50mb of space isn't enough at all.

Take a look @ ehostpros.com. I'm a reseller with them and everyhing is fantastic. Uptime/Support/Servers..everything.

Their prices aren't bad.. very competetive IMO.

But I don't mind paying a little extra more for top notch support.

Thanx RajanUrs, rightchoice, and PCRob. Now I have a better idea that 50 MB is not enough.

OK, let's break my questions into little pieces. I need a vendor who can provide me a reseller template free of charge. It means I don't have to worry about building a Web site, the vendor will give it to me with its' content free of charge (of course I will remove their brand name and place mine). AIT provides that, but are there any others?

Thanx in advance.

OK! Then what do you say on below prices?

$13.99 $16.99 $18.99
Disk Space 5 MB 50 MB 50 MB
Monthly Data Transfer 200 MB 1500 MB 1500 MB

All input will be appreciated. Thanx.

 that's a little expensive...

I get: 100mb space, 5000mb bandwidth for $2.5/month with my current hosting company. But I think the norm is at least $1/gig bandwidth and at least 50mb space per gig.

Thanx Pucca! So, any other suggestions from anybody?
