I am 5 months into a 12 month contract and I am ready to bail and throw away several hundreed dollars worth of investment. The minor outages every several days has been a annoyance but my site has been off-line sine the 26th or 27th of Nov and they apparently do not work weekends.

It took me 2 hours to find a phone number for them which if any of you need here it is 213-386-1250 seems they were surprised when I finally got thru to a live body. There 800 numbers seem to be disconnected and they have not updated there status page on the server in question in 2 days which is no surprise.

The tech support person I spoke to was oblivious of what was going on.

I am thankful I have my data backed up as I doubt at this point that they are going to be able to recover the site. They will probably cancel my account for posting this but at this point I don't care.

I was drawn to this site looking for a new hosting provider.

Stay away from Infinology.com

For the past 2 days I have spent about 12 hours a day researching a new host. I think I have narrowed the candidates down to 2-3 host.

Cheaper is not always better. I would rather pay a little more per month and insure that we have true uptime and responsive technical support.

The real kicker was we have just embarked on a MAJOR advertising campain we will have to do a lot of damage control when we are back-online.

I would have flown to California and rebuilt the machine myself if they would have let me :)

I am still trying to find our where there machines are hosted at. I bet that is part of the problem they probably can't get into there hosting facility on weekends.

Do they have an uptime guarentee? If so , tell them you want a refund or you are issuing a chargeback.

Uptime gurantee of 99.99% my tracking service shows another number all together but up to this point they have never honored there Gurantee. We will see this time when the finally get the site backup.

They host the SQL database on another server. Thus I have 100% of my database data so now it is just a matter of getting a new host updating configs and rebuilding the site and we will be back in business.

Funny thing Is I have a mini no brainer site hosted over at Netfirms and it has been rock steady for months. But I do not want to move this site over there I have heard they have some issues with MySQL and Movable Type.

Infinology situation update. Some of there customers sites remain down after being off-line for 5+ days now including mine. They are promising they will be back up before the close of business. Of course we are almost at the close of business so I don't expect them to be up..

I have started the process to move to a new host as they have already cost me enough lost revenue. Funny thing is they are not honoring there 99.99% uptime gurantee. We asked for a refund via landline and were denied.

Either they are on there way out of business or do not have the cash to continue. I am also suspicious of there outage being hard drive related. With the problems there having getting peoples sites back up kinda looks like virus related to me.

I had an account with Zerosetup (owned by Infinology) and was amazed at how absolutely terrible they were. There were a ton of false claims as I had no CGI bin and even though they claimed 100gb bandwidth per month, once my site reached past 10gb/month, they e-mailed me giving me a warning that I was using "excessive bandwidth". Their servers are more like 70% uptime (they claim 99.9%) and their "within 24 hour" response system usually answers my e-mails within a week.

Also I e-mailed them asking them if it was acceptable to post mp3s that were unavailable or unreleased. They never responded so I posted a couple of snippits on my site. Within 24 hours, my site was "permanently shut down for violating their policy" - UGH with not even a partial refund

and I thought their website was fishy before I signed up with them and so I took someone's advice of signing up a month at a time. I was then charged a $40 "set up fee" from Zerosetup.com

WEB HOSTS SUCK
find me a good one.

My site came up today a full 5 days of being down. But things had been so screwed up they moved me to a new server. Now I have been spending the afternoon asking them to get a bunch of perl modules and mysql:dbd loaded. Simply amazing we can see it but we can't update it yet.

I have made arrangements to move the site lock stock and barrell. I will keep a few low priority domains on there system just to get my money out of them until our contract expires.

They seem to be people who just care about growing and not helping their customers. I wish you luck also...
