Hello everybody, i am a customer of a Vps with Vaserv in London and register domains with netearth in united states. I have a problem since months with domains name resolution and if possibile i would like to have an advice how to resolve it.
Sometimes it happens that my domains fail on resolve in Italy, but they works in France, sometimes thay don't work in England, but they do in Italy, sometimes they don't work in France, but if i change dns to opendns they works and viceversa.
I register domains to with the extension .fr in france, but with them i don't have problems, problems are just with those registered with netearth.
How can i solve this problem?
Thanks for your attention
Francesco

First questions to ask would be :
1) Which TLD or a specific Domain name, ie are we talking 1 domain or many ?
2) Which DNS servers are you using (if the FreeDNS, then this is the LB platform normally very reliable) ?
3) Are you running hte DNS off of your VPS and where is secondary ?
4) Have you tried trracerouting / Pinging off a public Lookingglass (or a few even) ?
Lastly knowing what tickets we have, have you stoped by support and asked ?

The reason i didn't ask directly to netearth is because i don't blame them for the problem, at this regard i would like to tell for being clear that netearth is the best company i worked with both for prices/support. So the point is not netearth.
I am Looking for suggestion on how to configure my domains so...
1) i am talking about all my domains with netearth
2) i use my vps dns
3) i don't use secondary
4) i tried a lot of combinations of tracert
Thanks

Hi Francesco,
We are here to ask, as long as you are a reseller, just don't like seeing one of our resellers having a problem :)
OK, as a trial (sorry HE), go here http://lg.he.net and put in the FQDN (www.domain.com) and hit submit (traceroute is already selected).
This will check a) DNS (if HE can get it) and b a route to your box. You can select ping if you want, but means selecting ping ;)
You need to sort out a secondary DNS, as that could also be your problem if your primary DNS fails/too slow/isnt working the secondary is there :)
Are the DNS settings on your machine (pc at home/office), your own DNS servers (the vps) or as you mentioned you could be using opendns ?
Also put your domain name into something like intodns.com or some other dns checking service :)

Thanks for your hints, i guess the problem is the missing of 2nd ip, i'll try to figure it out with my server provider.
Looking forward into having .it and .fr domains into netearth
Thank you
Francesco
