You're standing in line at Wal-Mart, and this guy walks up to you and says, "I think you dropped this down the aisle" and is handing you a $50 bill

and you know damn well the $50 is NOT yours.

What do you do?!?

Umm, give it back to the guy and say get yourself something nice :)

Give it back or tell him to give it to the store manager. And stay out of Wal-Mart ;)

strip buck naked and start going "WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO, I GOT $50" around the mall. That's what I'd do, nothing good like that ever happens to me.

I would probably say, "nope I don't carry that kind of money around!" ;)

tell him, sorry I don't accept any bills higher than a 20.

go to the girls department and hide it in panties and write someone's phone number on it in permanent marker.

hmm, $50 is like £25, id say "oh thanks, i didnt realise"

£25 really isnt that much, it might get me some shopping of a couple of McDonalds, or supply me with a couple of rounds of beer.

It would be a bit of a treat.

So, what you are saying is that you'd get naked for $50?

I'd like to think I'd take the higher moral ground and tell him it wasn't mine... but in reality I'd probably say thanks and take the bill. Money's one of those things I really, really like :D

I think we all like money. ;)

My problem is I always seem to do "the right" thing, because I don't think before I speak so I would say something like, "nope must be someone elses..."

Dang me for being stupid! :D

I'd give it back, too. ..though I'd probably kick myself for doing that later.

Tell him "It was a $100 bill that I dropped, not a $50" :D

Honestly I would probably tell him its not mine. I always seem to do the right thing, as much as it kills me lol.

Assume I was about to be scammed or the subject of a Reader's Digest or Consumer Reports story on "How honest are Americans?"
What are the chances that someone who is carrying honestly acquired $50 bills around in WalMart would be so careless as to drop them and not notice?
I would look around for the nearest employee and tell him that this person has found the money and what should be done with it?

I would give the money back and say it wasnt mine.......1) Ya dont know if its a setup 2) Someone could be testing to see if your really HONEST or not..... 3) Morals would stop me from taking it i think :)

You know it would be a...

60 Minutes or 20/20 INVESTIGATION:
Greed in your local Wal-mart!

...hidden camera special where all the world would know that you didn't refuse what wasn't yours, etc. Old ladies would shake their heads as you walked by. The tabloids would run stories on it. You'd be shunned by the town, your family too embarrassed to admit they know you. Your life is ruined. Some poor grandma looses her last $50 bill and can't make rent and gets thrown onto the streets, forced to live in a cardboard box and eat discarded catfood. Tisk, tisk, tisk. Shame, shame, shame. You might want to get one of those coffins that can withstand extremely hot temperatures.

Actually, I'd expect it to be covered on CNN 24x7 for a few days... it is the communist news network...

I would definately tell him that it wasn't mine, unless it actually was. But if I am careless enough to drop a $50 I probably deserve to lose it.

I couldn't take it. I'd have to say it wasn't mine. Nothing good can come from being dishonest.
What goes around . . . .
I have found several purses, and I've always return them if they have ID, and with whatever was in them when I found them. The ones that don't have ID get turned in to the nearest police station.
I have found money too. Years ago, when I was working in a store making a whopping $5 an hour, I turned in a $20 bill I had found on the floor to the manager. He looked at me funny, but I said "I might not make much money, but it's all mine." Another time, I found $16 frozen to the pavement in a deserted mall parking lot, so I bought Pizza for my family for dinner.
Comes around . . . .
My EX is a service tech, and used to leave tools at peoples houses all the time. I think every single person called to tell him. A beeper was left behind at a hockey game. I had season tickets, so when someone found it and gave it to the usher, pointing at the seat in was in, he imediately knew who it belonged to. The next hockey game we went to, it was returned. How nice!
