Toolz 12-01-2002, 01:34 PM Yes - unmetered is not viable. It means the box will likely be overloaded, probably attract warez and p0rn etc etc You get what you pay for. No such thing as a free lunch, ... SoftWareRevue 12-01-2002, 01:38 PM Unmetered, in theory, means that they do not meter your bandwidth. You should have available to you all the bandwidth you need, up to whatever the cap is. silversurfer 12-01-2002, 01:40 PM That of course is an overgeneralisation . The term Unmetered Bandwidth has been used differently by different hosts. Some uses it to state that it is all the bandwidth you can use. Others place a cap and say that it is unmetered up to that cap. I don't believe there's an agreed upon usage by all. IMO though, i would use it to represent a full 100mbit/s. As such, a pipe is usually shared by many. Whether it is viable or not is hard to say. FDC seems to be doing well despite all the bad reviews here, and seems to be growing bigger all the time. While you are unlikely to burst up to a full 100mbit/s, the speeds are notexactly slow either. Similarly a host which don't give unmetered bandwidth may still be overselling drastically leading to slow speeds for the users. There's no hard and fast rule to it. So in the end it depends on how the host handles it. looker 12-01-2002, 01:41 PM allright thanks for the help Reality Hosting 12-01-2002, 02:14 PM http://www.unlimband.com/ hope that helps |
