Hi,

Maybe you guys might know a little something about this. I checked the domain kwilliams.com on GoDaddy and it was available. I bought it and it shows up in my domain manager. I tried signing it up with google apps standard and I added the cname/MX records and 48 hours later it was denied by google.

I checked whois.net and its already registered with another person.

I think its false advertising and annoying that I spent a long time trying to get it to work with google. I'm a n00b to all this but I think godaddy would be able to know if the domain was taken prior to my purchase.

I sent a CS request. Has this happened to anyone else?

It sounds like you may have backordered the domain with GoDaddy, and not actually purchased it.

The email says:
Domain Registration Confirmation
Congratulations! Your registration request for the domain name(s) below was successful:

KWILLLIAMS.COM

The next step: Log in to the Go Daddy Account Manager, where you can set up your free products (such as email, hosting with a Web site builder, and a blog), activate services you bought, and manage or modify your domain information (name servers, auto-renewal options, contact information, etc.).

Eh, if that's the case then its a pretty big glitch... nothing we can do. Contact GoDaddy.

edit; you bought it with three l's.

$18.99 is a lot for a .com

$18.99 is their backorder price - you don't own it until it expires and then only if Godaddy can grab it on the drop. It seems there is problem with Godaddy's control panel that treats backorders as actually registered & owned. In my testing the kwilliam domain does show as 'Backorder' when attempting to buy it at GoDaddy.

edit: mark is right - it was registered with 3 L's on 26-Feb-10.
Godaddy may give you 4-5 days to cancel it.

That's what I was thinking.

you may want to contact Go Daddy immediately to get a refund.

sometimes whois results will be wrongly shown and due to this you might have seen the domain is available or due to pending deletion period of that domain.

Hi,

I have ton's of domain's with GoDaddy they are great for that...

You have purchased a product called back ordering as other's have said.

This is your fault sorry for being a bit harsh...

Another Member has said request a refund well they wont issue one for their product "back ordering". If you get their sales/billing person to issue you a refund id personally like to apologize to you but i can almost assure you they wont.

Sorry about this take care.

Sounds like this is pretty misleading on GoDaddys behalf.
I understand the concept of back ordering and knew GoDaddy did it but you might be inclined to think they deliberately make it look as if the domain is available for customer who do not know any better.

Not very user friendly.

This guy is talking out the back of his xxxx. A new registration at GoDaddy doesn't cost that much. That's a backorder price, but he's saying it a new registration. That's BS.

Do you people read replies before replying? He registered KWILLLIAMS.COM - notice the superfluous L. :)

As for the $18.99, I guess he got a two-year registration.

Huh, this is a big mistake i must say. I think that letters like i and L should be avoided, specially when they are written together.

Im sorry for your mistake, but this domain is maybe good for parking. Its a Typo domain.

Godaddy has some good and bad points, but in terms of reliability, they are a lot better than other newbies that could go out of business anytime with my domains.
