View Full Version : Find My Hosting.com
vhedesigns 12-01-2002, 02:15 AM Find My Hosting (http://www.findmyhosting.com/) seems to be a rather good site only pay for a commission on sales referred throught their site. However, I can't seem to find out exactly how they will be tracking the orders.
Has anyone had any experience with the company? Is it worth the time to setup?
More on their program: Add A Host (http://www.findmyhosting.com/tour1.htm)
TQ Mark 12-01-2002, 02:39 AM They track the orders placed from their site with some javascript code. You put the code on your website and then on a page that the customer visits after the sale ("thank you for purchasing, please wait for a welcome email").
When you setup your account with them, they have an automatic checker that makes sure the code is in place on your site.
I have received 1 sign-up from them after being listed on there for about 2 months. I think they are very saturated with the cheap "Everything for a buck" hosts.
But, as you mentioned, the nice thing is you only pay them after they help you.
I'll be interested in seeing if anyone else has tips for using findmyhosting more effectively..
Reality Hosting 12-01-2002, 03:02 AM Part of the reason I signed up with them is because I was impressed that they didn't accept advertising from web hosts. I haven't been to the site in a while, so I don't know if that's still the case. It's respectable though.
2Mhost 12-01-2002, 09:21 AM but they never answer my question:
me as well a lot of hosts got a lot of fraud orders, ppl want to registr taken domains, ..... this orders usually cancelled before creating the account.
in that case how the commestion will work?
TQ Mark 12-01-2002, 02:57 PM 2mhost, this is from their FAQ:
What if a customer cancels ?
If a customer cancels then commissions are not due on any balances unpaid by the customer. The sale can be cancelled from the sale log.
so, it seems to me that you can cancel an order if it ends up being fraudulent.
Any body here listed with them ??
NovaW 12-01-2002, 05:14 PM We have hundreds of hosting companies listed in the FindMyHosting system.
We have no advertising & the system provides a level playing field for hosts to compete.
As mentioned above, our model is a commission on sales for upto 12 months. If a sale is cancelled then the host can cancel the sale & commissions stop. If a chargeback occurs we re-credit the host with any commissions paid.
Hosts in the system have varying performance, the best host performance over the past 30 days is a conversion of 9.02% of traffic to sales with an average monthly plan price of $6.71/month
TQ Mark 12-01-2002, 05:39 PM Andrew, thanks for your input.. do you have any tips for optimizing a findmyhosting listing?
NovaW 12-04-2002, 09:49 PM In terms of tips for optimizing a listing - to receive more traffic, you can check how often any plan comes back in searches & what it's highest & lowest position was in search results. This provides useful info on how to optimize plans. Our development plan is to add a lot more competitive comparison to this area & feedback more info on what people are searching for back to hosts.
For actually converting traffic into sales - although this is outside of the scope of FindMyHosting, you can compare how well you convert vs the trend for the best performing host.
With more traditional marketing approaches - you pay money for traffic. As mentioned already - FindMyHosting is sales commission based, so the traffic comes with no associated direct charge. People that use FindMyHosting are looking for hosting otherwise they wouldn't use the site. Some hosts get thousands of visitors a month & some get far less. If for example all your plans are $20 each for 1gig transfer then obviously you would get less traffic.
FindMyHosting is still a young site - but with hundreds and hundreds of sales tracked each month it is growing nicely month by month. Development of the system is continuous and as time goes on we will add more and more data on how how a hosts plans sit in the market vs real time customer & generalized competitor data. We store every search and every hosts position in every set of search results.
The savvy host will use this info to increase sales. We depend on it - we only make money if the hosts make money.
rlynch 12-05-2002, 12:26 AM how much commisions is charged?
NovaW 12-05-2002, 02:21 PM 15% on sales for a maximum of 12 months.
A1WebServer 12-05-2002, 02:42 PM Great concept.
ServerSonic 12-05-2002, 03:32 PM FindMyHosting has produced more clients for ServerSonic than any other paid advertising option we have tried. Just try and do what you can to get people to your page. The conversion rate is great, and the fact that you only pay when you actually get a customer is wonderful.
Rotifer 12-05-2002, 06:21 PM Our experience with FindMyHosting has also been excellent. Andrew is receptive to any suggestions you may have and continually works on the site to improve host rating integrity, etc.
NovaW 12-06-2002, 08:15 PM Thanks for the kind comments.
Beyond the ongoing development on the host side of the site - the factor that will determine the long-term success of FindMyHosting is maintaining & improving the flow of targeted visitors to the site. Afterall - we don't sell impressions, we can only generate revenue if the visitors ultimately buy web hosting.
Web Hosting Stuff 12-06-2002, 10:27 PM way to go andrew! ;)
kipper3d 12-07-2002, 03:19 AM I've said it before and I'll say it again, you can't go wrong with findmyhosting.com. It levels the playing field from the rich and the poor, giving the poor a chance to get noticed.
I give anyone 15% for bringing customers, its cheap form of advertising and FMH is very good rankings in google and other search engines. Plus they give you a lot of options to compete with other hosts with package pricing, uptime, reviews and stats to track your progress to find areas for improving your traffic/sales ratio.
Im listed on a bunch of other host directories and I have never seen a sale come from any other than FMH!
I THANK FMH!
-John
HostDime 12-08-2002, 03:56 AM There is no question that the Success of HostDime has been with the assitance of findmyhosting. We became part of FMH at its early age, things have only gotten better with time. It is incredible to see this hosting search resource grow at the rate it is. In my humble opinion it is the best hosting search.
1. You only pay if you log sales!
2. No ads, unlike other search engines only the people with the $$ get high ratings
3. Things are only getting better, it is still a young project but with great success so far.
5. Andrew is a true professional with true ethics I have learned this in the past 8 months I have dealt with him, a truely remarkable, smart, and professional individual.
HostDime is one the Top if not the Top Host in the system for reviews:
Great Job findmyhosting keep up the good work
puggy106 12-15-2002, 03:08 PM Hello,
I have been with FMH since they first started out. We had a few problems with setting up the code with Modern Bill, which I beleive there is no a tutorial on their site for!
We now have a Conversion ratio of around 9% since getting the tracking setup. Probably got quite a few free signups!
Anyway a big "thumbs up" from me and the Dot5Hosting team, keep up the good work Andrew.

phantasywork 12-15-2002, 10:38 PM I will also add we have had excellent results with findmyhosting , one of the best hosting directories we are listed with and have brought us the most .
I loved the concept that everyone is on a level playing field and you can't pay for advertisements , it's well worth the 15% commision.
Reality Hosting 12-15-2002, 10:44 PM Yup, Andrew is running a great service.
