A few days ago i bought domains from NAME.COM . I'm studying in Germany as a foreign student. Name.com cancelled my account and order and the reason was: "order falls beyond our threshold for fraudulent transactions".

They asked nothing about situation. There was no evidence that the credit card was stolen even no complain about it.

That was my credit card and i could prove it but they choose closing my account without notice and delete my domains.

So my friends if you have an account from NAME.COM please be carefull and if you could change your registrar.

pc. : i faced same situation before, but other registrars asked first and i proved my identity and ownership of credit card ! And it's fine now....

update 1: Ahh perfect ! I talked my bank, name.com canceled my order, deleted my account and didnt yet send back the money that i paid for domains ! I call it "ROBBERY" !!

It can take a few days for a credit card transaction to be reversed and show as a credit - even if the merchant initiates it right away. Don't worry - you will get the money back.

So what is different between your identity and the credit card that makes merchants question your purchases?

It is interesting that you've encountered similar difficulties with other registrars. I wonder what are the red flags you are setting off??

Name.com is personally my favorite registrar, and I've never had a single problem with them. In fact, I've moved all of the domains I consider valuable to name.com over the past year. I also use the Namesafe VIP Service (which also works with my Paypal account) as an additional level of security against potential threats. http://www.name.com/services/namesafe

Most likely temporal location. As he said, he study in Germany while he's from Turkey. If that's true, he order service while he's in other country. Name.com doesn't know that there are about 2 million Turks living in Germany, however I think that they should clarify this with op before automatic cancelation.

'Temporal location' sounds Star Trekish, lol. Nice catch Spirit. I missed the Turkey local in the post. That explains it.

Agreed.

The ip based geo location services that Internet traders rely on these days seem to get too easily confused. You could be on holiday, or using a personal proxy. You use your cc and all of a sudden you're a fraud suspect.

Low volume businesses tend to offer the personal touch in cases like this, but the high volume traders would seem to rely more on the automated processes. Can't blame them though, time is money.

Royal PITA, but just another triumph of the criminal cc thieves over the honest buyer.

I suppose you always can contact them and ask to call you for verification. If they want you as a new customer they will call you.
