View Full Version : Servers??? Where to buy..
Vortech 11-30-2002, 10:03 PM Looking for places to get some pricing on servers..
I know about:
California Digital ( We use them a lot. )
Penguin Computing ( A little High but good stuff. )
I don't want any thing like Dell or HP.. Like California Digital they use standered parts for there servers so it makes them easier to fix.. So any site that sells servers based on like ATX would be great and that support linux.. I know there is some more but google is not much help.. :)
Evan001 11-30-2002, 10:22 PM We have been very pleased with Built to Order http://www.btoonline.com

2Grumpy 12-01-2002, 12:56 AM Good grief I went to that btoonline and it wanted a whole lot of info just to make an account so I could see their pricing, as if I have the time to put all that info in just to kick the tires!

Fixing the server? With dell you may even get somebody to come in 4 hours (24/7/365) to fix your server. Isn't that better?
ntwaddel 12-01-2002, 02:15 PM i have an ibm x330, and they will come out and fix it anytime within 4 hours max.
James[UH] 12-01-2002, 04:13 PM Dont suppose you have an UK based places to buy servers like that? Been looking for a place to get prebuilt servers, not the HP, dell ones, but prebuilts ones.

Good site, but unfortunately not showing pricing up front is a turn off. Guess they won't be getting my business. (still cant understand what some of these companies are thinking when doing business on the Internet)
JBIZ718 12-01-2002, 09:53 PM Vortech BTO has very good pricing.
I can put you in touch with my rep there and they will take care of you
Joe
diederik 12-02-2002, 05:09 AM I just registered @ BTO to see their prices, but I have to wait 24-48 hours untill they 'approve' my account

Actually they even have 2 hour support we have it with several of our servers. Its kinda nifty to have the parts and a tech there within 2 hours replacing things. Downside is it costs a grip.
silversurfer 12-02-2002, 08:23 AM I like www.qsol.com
Nordic 12-03-2002, 03:32 AM At first I had to agree with all happy people for Qsol. But then when I decided to buy from them and all was agreed on the specs etc. I wanted them to mail me a simple invoice, as I need that for accounting it all stopped, they couldn't mail me a simple invoice. But they wanted me to mail them my credit card details...no thanks, if they can't produce an invoice makes you think twice about this company. To bad, it was very nice until I decided to become a customer
