Hi all
Can someone explain how these work?
Are all uk.com domains simply resold subdomains from the owner of the uk.com TLD?
If that's true, sounds like a pretty bad idea?
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks

uk.com is a sub-domain sold by CentralNic which also sells us.com eu.com etc...

Confirmed - Looks to be registered through Network Solutions.
If in doubt just do a whois search. You wont find any whois info for a co.uk domain but you would for uk.com
Hope this helps.

I thought as much.
I dont see the point of these, they seem like a risk.
Only reason anyone should buy one is if you are desperate for a domain that has already been taken by all UK and TLD extensions.

They don't look all that good. I don't know why anybody would buy them.

People buy them because they don't know any better (if you're a company, and you know nothing about domains, then companyname.uk.com probably looks quite cool!)
While I wouldn't be seen dead with a .uk.com domain I don't think there are any concerns about stability as Centralnic is a fairly major player in the industry and have been around for a very long time. I'd probably trust them more than any of the other pseudo-registries.

These are subdomain names only and they are being registered by the owner. He is domain name owner and he is not domain name registrar. That is about us.com or uk.com domain name names.
But domain names like co.uk or com.au are provided by accredited domain name registrars.

Massively overpriced too in general.
I'll stick with a nice cheap .uk domains.

Someone registered domain name .uk.com and now provide subdomain names. I guess such domain name (third level domains) will belong to one person only NOT FOR YOU
Beware!
