Judge: School violated boy's free speech rights

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Michigan (AP) --A federal judge has ruled that a school district violated a student's rights to free speech and due process when it suspended him for posting "intimidation and threats" on the Internet.

The Waterford School District should not have suspended the student in August 2001 for contributing to "Satan's Web page," U.S. District Judge Patrick Duggan ruled this week.

School officials were concerned by content that included a passage labeled "Satan's mission for you this week." It read: "Stab someone for no reason then set them on fire throw them off of a cliff, watch them suffer and with their last breath, just before everything goes black, spit on their face."

The student, who was not identified, was suspended after a hearing in which he wasn't allowed to cross-examine witnesses and could not be represented by an attorney, said his lawyer, Richard Landau.

The student sued the district, seeking damages of up to $75,000. He has since graduated from a school in a neighboring district.

School representatives and the attorney representing the district did not return phone calls seeking comment Wednesday.

He probably hadn't a clue about satanism according to LaVey. The problem with the case was the lack of representation, NOT what he did.

My special wish for this week: "that someone stab both this kid and his lawyer, and then set them on fire, throw them off of a cliff, watch them suffer and with their last breath, just before everything goes black, spit on their faces."

Totally agree.
He might just be some high school kid trying to look cool in front of high school girls at the expense of the reputation of satanism.
I have read the satanism bible bu anthony lavey and it made sense to me. It made even more sense than bible actually.
No offense to christians and catholics out there.

Bible: "forgive and forget" so if someone confront you on the street , harrass you and beat you up you are supposed to forgive him and forget? I have tried too long to understand this but it just couldn't get in my head.
Satanism: "If you are harrassed on the street, tell the guy not to do that. If he continues, destroy him" It teaches forgive only those who deserved to be forgiven and punish those who are not worthy of it. Made sense isn't it?

The biggest issue here is "do schools have the right to monitor what their kids do outside of class?" IMHO, unless the page had a specific threat directed at the school, he should not have been suspended in the first place. You also have to ask if they're obligated to monitor what their kids do outside school. Unfortunately, because most don't even supervise their kids these days, stuff like this has become necessary.

It comes down to education and open mind of his parents, media and teachers. If he was properly introduced to Satanizam something like this would never happen at first place.

Except that I'm not Christian, perhaps "spoken like a true *******" is what you meant? :stickout: Originally posted by DefiantPc

One of the really good points of satanism - Be an idiot once and learn from your misstakes and all is well. Continue to be an idiot and your going to be in a lot of trouble.

That's why people who say they are satanists and burn churches and destoy graves will never be any real satanists.
