Have a good weekend :) hostblock 11-30-2002, 04:14 AM Yeah.. I got an email back saying their router is getting attacked, that it is an "ongoing" problem, and that they are working on the issue. I don't even bother anymore at using my FDC servers for my hosting or reseller clients. Any server with FDC is bound to go down and then you lose clients and money!... hard drives crashing, network problems, cooling problems, electricity problems, problems with bandwidth providers, list goes on. Support is getting better though. DD-SNC 11-30-2002, 04:18 AM That kind of sucks, we all know unexpected problems arise and come in three's. Prepartion is the key but unforseen expenses and problems happen to us all.. I wish FDC the best, they've been having a lot of ups and downs lately.. tek 11-30-2002, 02:35 PM Yeah.. I actually thought all these problems would be going away knowing they're now with Yipes, and they're no longer hosting IRC servers on the same network as everyone else. I would also think that DOS attacks are common to any provider and that measures are in place to prevent such downtime... I don't get it... are they using the wrong equipment in blocking these attacks? should they invest more in their network infrastructure? Neo3Net 11-30-2002, 03:00 PM FDC needs to spend more money on their infrastucture. It seems to me that they do not have the correct secruity measures in place to prevent such attacks. mushrew 11-30-2002, 03:29 PM You really can't prevent DDoS attacks. You can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on firewalls and pay tens of thousands of dollars a month on filtering the traffic directly at the provider but you can't prevent DDoS attacks. If prevention was possible, i don't think RackShack and their 6 now going on 7 GigEs would be going down from DDoS. |
