OK, I've got a project in mind, and currently I'm trying to check its feasibility. It's going to be built around XSLT, and in order to render that into HTML I'm gonna use a servelet called Cocoon (http://xml.apache.org/cocoon).

I'm wondering if anyone has any hosts to recommend that support servelets, and preferably won't jump down your throat if you start using a lot of server CPU time. I was considering ThinkHost although they don't seem to have an outstanding reputation around here... can anyone suggest any alternatives?

cheers

I was pretty happy with HostPro's NetPlus account when I was getting started. Actually the reason I left them was that MySQL was often overtaxed (too many connections) and my site relies on MySQL. If you don't need MySQL their servlet support is pretty good.

That said, if you're doing anything that technically advanced such as this you're going to want a dedicated server once you get a decent number of hits. I'm pretty happy with my RaQ3 at 4webspace though others are complaining about them.

Try doing a search on google. There is a place called the adrenaline group and they have a listing of java hosting companies.

Also make sure the web host uses the latest version of jsp and servets API.

Hmm... i dont really have the cash for a colocated server I'm afraid. And I dont think this servelet needs a bleeding-edge API either, but m'eh. Anyone got any links to this java hosting list?

www.servlets.com has a list of ISPs that support servlets. Some with reviews.

Ah, thanks :) Well, I looked at that site. InfiniteHost looks good, anyone had any good/bad experiences with them?
