Hello

I had asked this question before but never really gotten a satisfactory answer, so here I go again:

www.ign.com

What is that "navigation bar" called in the middle of site (taking up most of the space on the home page)? The one with six small buttons on the bottom, which changes the big picture when hovered over.

And more importantly:

Where can I find information on doing one for my own website (here perhaps)? Remember I'm a real amateur.

Is it hard to do?

Thanks

I would say that you need to look over here:

http://flowplayer.org/

I think their example is probably jquery and flowplayer mixed, but this is quite advanced and has been made for this site I think. If your new to javascript and coding in general then your going to need someone who knows to help you out with this.
There maybe easier premade scripts that do similiar things like jquery.
example:
http://www.queness.com/post/222/10-jquery-photo-gallery-and-slider-plugins

these alot of guides around for using jquery and its quite extensible when you get the hang of it.

They're called sliders and there are hundreds of different kinds. Try a search for image sliders.
