View Full Version : Canadian Hosts: Merchant/Gateway solutions?
DJiMPaCT 11-29-2002, 07:04 AM Hey,
Thanks for reading this. Well basically we currently are using 2checkout.com for credit card processing, for the sole reason that it *WAS* a good product and easy to use. Now that large sums of money have gone missing from our account, it is time to move on.
So what I would like to know ( save myself a little time from shopping around ) is what merchant account do you use? what gateway do you use? And does it intergrate with modernbill?
Thanks again,
1upromo 11-29-2002, 07:18 AM Hi,
I found a provider at exploring;
http://www.merchant-accounts.ca/
good like
:)
DJiMPaCT 11-29-2002, 07:34 AM It does look good except it is really expensive,
$1500 setup fee
$97 monthly fee
then 15cents/2.97% of each payment
1upromo 11-29-2002, 07:56 AM Hi,
You are wrong,
Real price is;
One Time Setup Fee: $310
Monthly Fee: $25
Per Transaction Fee: 10 cents
Chargeback Fee: $15
Weekly Remittance: $5
Discount Rate: 3.95%
:D
DJiMPaCT 11-29-2002, 08:08 AM No I am not wrong, it says it right there on the site. That is still a high rate 3.95% I am looking for something that will save money over 2checkout.com and work with modernbill.
Thanks though
1upromo 11-29-2002, 08:22 AM But this is real merchant, isn't it..
1upromo 11-29-2002, 08:30 AM Another merchant providers;

Check it out!
Reality Hosting 11-29-2002, 11:30 AM I use internet secure, they are great. I visited their offices in Oakville, Ont. and it's not a flyby night operation.
They have two plans.
I forget the exact setup cost.
One is $290 (Canadian) has a lower monthly fee, high discount rate and $1.50 per transaction rate. The other is $100 more setup, a slightly higher monthly fee. Much lower discount rate and $0.45 per charge rate.
I'm on the basic plan, and it's $35 monthly.
They are great:
You can accept Canadian, US funds or both.
They have GEO IP tracing (saved me on a fraudulent order a week or two ago)
Sophisticated Reccuring billing system
and many more features.
They aren't perfect though.
They require they're own standard order form that you must use.
If you want, PM me and I'll dig up the PDF file with all the exact info on their plans.
big_smooth 11-29-2002, 11:39 AM from look at those rates...i'd just go with paysystems..
$1.50 transaction fee?
Reality Hosting 11-29-2002, 01:02 PM Yeah, again this is a real merchant account.
I like the added service I get from them, plus the excellent fraud protection tools they offer their customers. Some people would rather pay less. Each to his own.
DJiMPaCT 11-29-2002, 01:09 PM Thanks for the offer reality host,
But I am looking for something that I can use with modernbill for batch processing etc..
btw, is there any %age on the $.45 transaction fee? or is that just a flat rate?
Reality Hosting 11-29-2002, 01:48 PM I'm not on the advanced plan at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it's just .45 cents, no %. Been tryin' to find the application all morning so I could say for sure. Asked them to resend it to me :)
DJiMPaCT 11-29-2002, 03:13 PM thanks :) if it is $.45 that is actually really good considering we have a bunch of dedicated clients.
Maybe on the advanced plan they allow you to use your own forms?
Reality Hosting 11-29-2002, 04:36 PM Nope, one thing they are a real stickler on is the form. It has to stay in a specific format :(
What's your e-mail? I'll send you the PDF file.
DJiMPaCT 11-29-2002, 06:09 PM KKennedy [@] EdgeHost.com, Thanks.
Really? It isn't a proper merchant then,
Reality Hosting 11-29-2002, 06:40 PM Okay, I feel kinda stupid...
I just noticed your email is in your sig hehe
I went through the sam stuff trying to find a merchant account, me being in Ontario, Canada. I just searched google went to all the sites i found and well there was only one that responded to me within 24 hours and the rest decided not to respond
http://canada-merchant-accounts.com/
I signed up with them and i will let you guys know how it is, so for all the communication has been great. Todd called me the first day with a few questions which was nice. (didn't have the website online since i didn't have the merchant account yet but i showed him the one thats waiting and ready)
Just thought i would give fellow Canadians the heads up their site doesn't look the best but the support is good from what i can tell so far.
Thanks
William Wilson
dtcm_coach 11-30-2002, 09:11 PM A large Canadian Gateway I have had good dealings with in the past is http://www.paradata.com. They have good rates and fees. If you have specific questions regarding them let me know I may be able to get them to lower there setup fees for you.
Another company I have used is Echo inc however they are located in the states and I don't know if they have restrictions on Canadian Merchants however they have excellent fees as well.

How should we know that? They don't seem to have any rates/prices on their website. :(
dtcm_coach 11-30-2002, 11:42 PM Canadian Priceing:

Reality Hosting 11-30-2002, 11:49 PM yeah, too me a while to find pricing info. Thank goodness for sitemaps! :P

Monthly service fee $30 US
Per transaction fee $ .15 US
This is very cheap, but does this include gateway? Or do I need to get authorize.net as well?
