Deroba 02-10-2010, 08:09 PM Down for me too fierceservers 02-10-2010, 08:14 PM Confirmed here as well. Wonder how long this has been for. I've used name.com before but never had any issues with it. CrazyPenguin 02-10-2010, 08:15 PM They are down for me too. Plus I am 6 days into a domain transfer to Domainsite.com and have no idea what is going on. I am beginning to regret dealing with Name.com and Domainsite.com. Techno 02-10-2010, 08:18 PM Maybe the scheduled conversion of the domainsite.com interface to the name.com interface wasn't as smooth as expected. - more likely its a DOS attack or similar http://blog.name.com/2010/01/change-is-a-comin/ We’re excited to announce that on Tuesday, February 9th our sister companies DomainSite.com and Name.net will have a brand new look! We will be upgrading the entire environment of these two sites to match Name.com. dantheman733 02-10-2010, 08:32 PM Has been down for me as well. I called their customer support number but they closed at 6pm EST and the automated lady referred me to the website...which is down. I agree that it is likely not intentional downtime since being the large provider they are, they likely would have made some sort of announcement or put up a placeholder page as notification. dantheman733 02-10-2010, 09:39 PM According to name.com's twitter there was a power outage at their datacenter (you'd think they'd have backup generators for this sort of thing). The site seems to be back up now. stub 02-10-2010, 10:32 PM Name.com is working for me. CrazyPenguin 02-10-2010, 11:04 PM Name.com is having issues: (http://www.namepros.com/domain-registrar-reviews/638696-name-com-support.html#post3731947) name.com support Hi all services in name.com is very good but only they have a big problem the problem " very slow support " For example my name.com account hacked ( my email hacked ) and i report it 48H ago but they don't answer me Time is very important in this condition Hacker may push all my domains to other account . my suggestion : name.com must create new support category for Critical issues CrazyPenguin 02-10-2010, 11:43 PM Maybe the scheduled conversion of the domainsite.com interface to the name.com interface wasn't as smooth as expected. Not smooth is an understatement for the transition that is going between Name.com and Domainsite.com. It is interesting from the the link you provided they said they would give people the option to combine accounts at Name.com and Domainsite.com. Dan said: (http://blog.name.com/2010/01/change-is-a-comin/)(look in the comments area) As far as I can tell, the two sites are staying separate, not being merged. They're only upgrading DomainSite's interface to match that of Name.com, nothing else. :)Name.com replied: (http://blog.name.com/2010/01/change-is-a-comin/)(look in the comments area) Hi Dan, That will not cause a problem, you will continue to have individual accounts at each registrar. Password recovery will function as expected for both accounts. You will also have the option to do an account transfer of your domains into one single account (at either registrar) so that you can manage your names without logging into multiple accounts/registrars. I hope that helps clear things up.But when I went to the new Domainsite.com (http://www.domainsite.com/update_username.php) I was faced with this: Welcome back to your account. When we made the recent upgrade to Domainsite.com we had a small problem adding your username to our new system. This won't affect any of the domains in your account. It only affects your username. We anticipated this might happen to a small number of our customers, so we've attempted to make the fix as easy as possible. On this page you will need to create a new username for your account. Once you've changed your username just click on the 'Account' button at the top of the page and you can continue managing your domains. Please enter a new username in the field below and click on "Change Username". (Our system will let you know if you are trying to create a username that conflicts with another account.) We apologize for any inconvenience this step may have caused. We think you will find that the benefits of our new control panel and our new domain search tools are worth it. Enter your new username:So where in the option to combine accounts? M Bacon 02-11-2010, 02:27 AM Why does name.com and domainsite.com not show on homepage that they are ICANN Accredited? name.com notice on home page: NOTICE: On February 10th at 3:30PM MST we were notified by our primary data center provider that they had experienced a complete power outage. Our System Administrators were on-site shortly after being notified of the issue. Once power was completely restored, we were able to bring all services back online at 6:30PM MST. Services like DNS, web hosting and URL forwarding were not affected by this outage. We apologize for any inconvenience this downtime may have caused. david3 02-11-2010, 04:23 AM I just noticed my name.com domains show the registrar as "Spot Domain LLC" instead of name.com. It wasn't like that before. That seems odd. I don't know if it has anything to do with the outage or the merger. CrazyPenguin 02-11-2010, 08:38 AM From the ICANN (http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/accredited-list.html) page Spot Domain LLC dba Domainsite.com. Very interesting indeed. Spot Domain is Domainsite. Techno 02-11-2010, 10:31 AM It always was Spot Domain LLC - PayPal payments have always gone to Spot Domain LLC david3 02-11-2010, 11:18 AM It could be normal. I just transferred some domains there a few weeks ago, and I copied the whois listing after they were transferred, and it said: Registrar: Name.com LLC The Data in the Name.com LLC WHOIS database is provided by Name.com LLC for information purposes, ... And now it says: Registrar: Spot Domain LLC The Data in the Spot Domain LLC WHOIS database is provided by Spot Domain LLC for information purposes, ... So it did change in the last few weeks, but maybe that's the normal way things work there. OnlyMP 02-11-2010, 11:18 AM Name.com is up again. From here - Asia. CrazyPenguin 02-11-2010, 02:02 PM It always was Spot Domain LLC - PayPal payments have always gone to Spot Domain LLC Interesting! I just looked at my PayPal payment for Name.com and it went to Name.com Domainsite PayPal payments went to Spot Domain. slweb 02-12-2010, 03:36 PM Name.com is down for me right now. EDIT: Now it's back up for me. sprouticus 02-18-2010, 03:38 PM Hi guys! We don't actively monitor this forum but this thread came across our feeds and we thought we'd jump in. We apologize for the recent downtime. There was a power outage at our datacenter and unfortunately their backup generators failed as well. If you experience any other outages or issues, check out our Twitter account (namedotcom) for updates and feel free to ping us at any time. M_Bacon - we used to show the ICANN accreditation logo on our homepage but we took it down because, frankly, it was a little ugly. :) However we are looking to put it back in to avoid any further confusion around this. Thanks for your feedback! david3 - if your name.com domains are showing as Spot Domain, that definitely should not be happening and we want to investigate why it is. Please send an email to support[at]name.com and post your case number in this thread, we'll make sure someone takes a look right away.
