Does anybody know who space age services are?
For the last 2 months I have gotten charges from them on my credit card account ...
They are listed as:
Space Age 813-9253880

And don't say call them, as the phone call from here to there would cost more then the account ... U$4 per minute, and they'll probably put me on hold for 30 minutes ....

I would hate to find out that it's one of my previous web hosts deciding to take adavantage of my credit card on www.biker-chicks-with-hairy-backs.com

Anybody heard of them ??

Are you saying you got unauthorised charges? Refute them, ask the credit company to not allow any more charges from them and do a charge back.

Oh DAMN .. I got a similar thing from adult check this month ... I mailed them .. they sent me a 'form letter' stating that they will canel my account, but when I asked them to tell me if it was my account and who it was ordered by, they said that they can not give out that info.

And at U$40 a month .. I could start my own web hosting company for that :D

The thing is I have given out my CC number to only 5 places, amazon, and four hosts and I still have their info, so if I find out it's one of them .. I will start removing testicles with blunt wooden instruments ...

cancel your card. At some point you have bought something and the server has been comprimised (perhaps without their knowledge). It happens more often than you think.

cancel the card and chargeback all those that you dispute. Any reputable company will refund you before you have to chargeback as it goes against their merchant status.

Thanks jmr .. the problem is that with all the adult web hosters/processors they just do whatever they please and don't really care .. they have huge turnovers so nobody is going to let me stirr up a fuss or get them in trouble for little ol me with my little ol U$40 problem ...

Ah see this is the thing though Adult hosters are always having to battle it out with merchant providers due to the amount of chargebacks they recieve. They do take note about your $40 as it will cost them more than this if they get their account taken from them

Your credit company will care. (You better hope so =) ) But jmr is right.. if you see many fradulent charges, cancel the card. I do not know which country you are in. But a lot of times it is also very easy to steal credit card numbers offline. (For example your credit card slips for offline purchases) In some countries, it is common that the shop assistants, waitresses etc sell these numbers they copied down to syndicates which will make all the fradulent purchases.

Once your card has been compromised, the best really is to cancel the card and get a new one.

as a tip:

Keep one card purely for online purchases. So if someone starts making fake charges, you know that it is due to your usage online (and not offline)

plus most of them use third party payment processors go straight to them......they will refund you if not tell them you are going to chargeback and report it to all authorities.

Quick update ....

Ok I called the credit card guys AGAIN ...

They say they can NOT change my credit card number. The only time they can do that is if my card is stolen and I can't say that now as they know it isn't and it will be fraud on my part.

Also they are not going to do anything unless I charge back 'sevral times' The woman actually told me that I have to charge back every time I get one of those accounts and there is nothing they can do about it for now ... DAMN .. MY CC ONLY EXPIRES IN 2005 !!!!!!! ... ... but anyway .. she said that when severl chargebacks happen only THEN will the fraud dept step in ... and obviously she couldn't say what 'several' is ... According to dictionary it's more then 2 ???

But anyway ... for now I will have to fill in forms .. fax 3 milion people and possibly give dna / urin and seamen samples to get my money back ....

and silver: I'm in South Africa and I do had separate CC for online but I had to close it for this very problem, and they not to keen to give me another one ...

wow!

my credit card company will take care of it if i just tell them i didn't do the charge. i just copy the bill, note which are not mine, and send it back to them. my best friend's card was used a few weeks ago (same company) and that's all he had to do. no problem.

Hingy, your credit card company is less than helpful. You don't ask to change card numbers. No bank will do that (or can I believe) Just cancel and reapply. I am sure there are many banks fighting for your business. Before cancelling do all the charge backs. The customer service rep at your bank obviously is someone who isn't too helpful. Which bank will rather get into all the charge backs and stuff.. it's more work and hassle for them too.

Over here, I just ask for it, send a written request by fax (a form with a few fields) and it is done. No questions asked. They only get upset if you charge back too often. Which I don't. I seek all other possible recourse first. Charge backs is not my favourite way to do things, cos I know too it can be bad for the merchant. So I try to be reasonable... anyway....

Yest another example of "We are the USA, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated" ;)

Unfortunately we only have 4 major banks here ... and there is a long process for a credit card application ... and if you apply too many times it goes through the credit bureau and sometimes the score cards reject you automaticaly .... I know I used to work for a credit bureau and this stuff is horrendeous ...

Yes you can cancel your card surely?.....They cant allow cards to be used without your consent thats a joke.

I know.....ask them to cancel the card if they refuse then transfer your balance to another ccard company!

Well if I cancel my card it will take quite some time to get a new one ... considering the circumstances of the cancellation

Which bank will rather get into all the charge backs and stuff.. it's more work and hassle for them too.Doesn't the bank charge a fee for the charge back too (to the offending party)?

I've never actually had to do one yet but I've started the procedure a few times so they'd be aware that there was a problem and I wouldn't get the: "why did you wait so long before notifying us?"
Although thus far contacting the merchant directly and asking them for a refund within a few days or I would go through with charge back has always worked so far for me.

My bank seems all too happy to do charge backs. The conversation is similar each time: "did you use your card code or do they have your signature for the transfer?"
"no, it was an online transaction on the internet"
"oh... there's no reason why you wouldn't get your money back then. They can't proove that you authorized it without the code and a signature. Fill in the form and your card will be credited once we received them"

Claim all the charges as illegal. You'll get your money back.
