Hi,
Although I have no problems with Hostgator but when I compare a site hosted by template providers and the same site installed on my HG server, its slow.

For ex. When I download a Joomla quick start package from rockettheme.com and installed on my servers, its slow compare to Rockettheme's server.

Where as If I use HG's individual plan i.e. baby package, its fast compare to resellar's packages.

Can someone suggest me an alternate to HG which offers 30 days money back? No Justhost please.

Thanks

Did you try contacting HG about the issue?

Thanks for your reply...
No.. I did not call their support. Since I used to have only 8-10 clients, I signup again last march after 1 year of service with a new account (to get 20% off) and new server but speed was same.
Now I have 20 Clients and I am going to end up my contract this march, I thought I should look someone else and give it a try for 30 days.

Do you think talkin to their support will help?
thx

Of course, they may be able to correct the problem (if there is one).

If not, then you may want to choose a host that don't overload their servers as much.

Try talking with their support first and see what they say.

Be prepared with real figures to make your case iron clad. There may be some end user accounts on that server that are better off on their own VPS/dedicated. Tough luck for them, but it may lead to the improvements you're after.

Their shared hosting is indeed quite snappy in my experience. I don't see an immediate reason why their reseller hosting shouldn't be able to be the same.

It is tough to say why your site is slow. The issue could be the server the site is on, or it might be something your site is doing. You mentioned using Joomla. A default Joomla installation performs well. However, the performance can fall off once certain pluggins are enabled. The first thing to try is disabling all of the pluggins. If the site is still slow, then contact the host about the issue. If you have the pluggins enabled when you contact them, they could blame the pluggins. Good luck with it.

I talked to HG support and they said everything is fine at their end but after an hour all my client's website are loading super fast (within 3 seconds).
Don't know what was wrong but thank you all for your advices.
Since I am paying $20 a month to HG for 20 clients (sh... charging $99/year with maintenance), I think I need one more reseller account somewhere else.
Please suggest one.. must be as good as HG.
Thanks

This happened to me once (However it was more than 3-4 months ago), I simply contacted their Live Chat, they've cornered the issue and resolved it.

Apparently someone was going over the CPU, and I believe that account was suspended - Hard to say whether it was a Reseller or the Reseller's client.

Have you've considered http://www.surpasshosting.com/ ,
I've heard some nice things about them over this forum here and there.

Or,
http://hostnine.com .

I've never used neither hosts (Backed out on SurpassHosting, after looking through this - http://www.surpasshosting.com/server-status.php ; And at the time of posting... http://i47.tinypic.com/rj0epf.png & http://i50.tinypic.com/2mzfonb.png).

Not sure which server hosts the reseller clients/resellers themselves.

A good way to see is to check the loads of the server you are on. Look for those 3 numbers in the top right of your WHM. Host Gator uses 8 cpu core servers for resellers so a number above that would represent that the server is overloaded. If the number is lower then that its really something with your script and bandwidth restriction somewhere. At least this will remove one variable.

It's not quite so simple as you put it. A server with a temporary load (even constant) of 8 could and very likely will run just fine. Because the server load is not an exact reflection of CPU usage, the server load may be misleading.

What can't be misleading is that the server's performance is impaired, and that must have a cause: either the host thinks it is acceptable, or some customers are getting more than they're paying for, effectively stealing others' resources. :)

The number will always be 1 no matter how many processors/cores are used right? 1 means all the processors are fully utilized and anything over means there are that many more processes waiting to use the CPU

Funny how that works, they say nothing is wrong, yet after a quick call everything is working better.

The general rule is a load of 1 per CPU core, though it really is a rough guide and as long as your sites load quickly it should be ignored.

Actually no. The load can be virtually 0, because running processes often don't need much CPU time to do their job. In the rest of the time, the CPU is idle.

I didn't mean it would be one all the time, i meant the total load that it can possibly be, to be 100% is 1.

I just read this article and it cleared it up for me for multiple processors and cores.

My HG reseller account, which also hosts my main Joomla biz site, is quite peppy. This sounds like an isolated issue...I would contact HG about it. Maybe you are just on a slow server, or there's some other issue on the box.

I take you went to find another host? I'm not sure if that was confusing or it's just really late and I need some sleep.

Well, I wouldn't expect them to know every billing sum by heart. The fellow took the time to verify the whole situation and finally gave you the right explanation.

That being said, are you sure you want to signup for a 3 years period? That's a lot of time, and $350 is a decent sum of money for most people. why not try them out on a monthly or quarterly basis for a while, and see how things go.

Sure, you can use the 30 days money back guarantee to test them out, but that's generally a small amount of time to judge a host decisively.

You think 3 second loads are fast? I wouldn't have any customers at that rate. All my customers load under 1 second and most are under .5.
It is funny how all of a sudden it runs faster after you put in a ticket.

Hi there, good luck with your new provider! I know Jixhost seems to have a good rep around here, but just remember there is no such thing as "unlimited" resources because it's physically not possible ;).
