I don't handle a lot of the technical issues, and I was wondering if someone can explain to me in a little detail how an MX record works.
My #1 question is this:
I just updated a domains MX record to point to a mail.otherserver.com
Does this need to 'propigate' similar to DNS changes? The reason I ask is that it is not working, and I am wondering if there is some delay in MX record changes being updated???

An MX record is a DNS change so it would need to propigate.. do a dig on your domain to see if the DNS changes are correct...

I am a little confused.
The propigation I assume is the same as DNS propigation. Every ISP updates its own DNS records at different times? At that point it is updated???
I am a little confused on the whole MX record and propigation..

Well, depends on the DNS server where the SOA for the domain is and what TTL is based on that. once the TTL Expires the dns servers will check for new records/information
