NGDS 11-28-2002, 10:36 PM it's so wimped out to be user friendly it's almost usless for a server thats the last thing I'd run on a server....enough said Neo3Net 11-28-2002, 10:52 PM Yea, its supposed to be User Friendly. I don't see any advantages of hosting on it since servers don't use the GUI for the most part anyway. Just my 2 cents JonL 11-28-2002, 11:08 PM It was never meant to be used as a server operating system. I wouldn't try it :stickout: rlynch 11-28-2002, 11:24 PM only advantage i see is that it is dirt cheap Neo3Net 11-29-2002, 12:45 AM Can't get cheaper then Redhat :) JonL 11-29-2002, 01:30 AM Yup, just download the ISO :stickout: BMurtagh 11-29-2002, 01:54 AM redhat isn't just the only distro that you can download, linux and most *nix OS's are free. for linux specifically, visit: www.linuxiso.org acameron 12-01-2002, 03:15 AM I used to use Caldera eDesktop which was nice, of course eServer was best for servers (duh:)) Now I only use RedHat. Havnt used lindows but have not heard of anyone running a server with it:) aNc JSpired 12-01-2002, 03:25 AM Never used it on a server. I think it was really meant for the non-Linux minded folks or those who are just learning. I did play around with it about a month ago and wasn't overly impressed...but maybe that's just me. jolly 12-02-2002, 03:03 PM Read these post http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=733433&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending hostingsp 12-03-2002, 09:34 AM Lindows shold be good if you wanna host one - ten sites per server  From the sounds off lindows and from the beta's you can see much programming errors...that will not work well in a server :) PS : If a Windows Server already doesn't work well, why will LINDOWS WORK ? -- Get the point ? -- - ;) - ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/8.0/en/iso/i386/ -- Go for it BOY -- |
