tomence 02-05-2010, 12:10 AM hi there everyone just trying to see where everybody buys their domain names from.
i would like to purchase some but dont know who to buy them from
so i need to see different opinions
thanks
njoker555 02-05-2010, 12:13 AM several places - depending on the current savings really. But most of my domains belong to GoDaddy, then Namecheap, then MyDomains, then moniker. I have active domains in all 4 mentioned registrars. Although I think I only have one left in moniker. But nonetheless, it's still pretty good.
skc132 02-05-2010, 12:14 AM I`ve used Yahoo and name.com. Yahoo is okay, but I'd highly recommend name.com

I'm now registering all my domains through Namecheap. I absolutely recommend them.
mystycs 02-05-2010, 12:23 AM i agree, i get all my domains through namecheap, find a coupon you can get it down to 8.88 too :)
tomence 02-05-2010, 12:36 AM i hear this namecheap.com name a lot of times so is it coz of the price and also somebody mentioned name.com highly recommended why is that.
Vinayak_Sharma 02-05-2010, 03:05 AM I have some domains at godaddy that I booked way before I started reselling domains, never bothered to move them, so they are still there for ten long years.
BobyKirov 02-05-2010, 04:52 AM I buy from godaddy ,but as a reseller i use eNom.
nameslave 02-05-2010, 08:46 AM just trying to see where everybody buys their domain names from.
This is where EVERYBODY is buying their domains from:

MichelleH 02-05-2010, 09:24 AM I use mostly Godaddy but have a few with Enom and Namecheap
I get my domains mainly from NetEarthone. I have a few at resellerclub and resell.biz. The I get my .ca domains from domainsatcost.ca, 10dollar.ca
Logic Surge 02-05-2010, 10:12 AM I get all my domains from NetEarthOne
Spirit 02-05-2010, 10:57 PM I still prefer name.com

3 out of 15 registrars on this chart are german. Interesting.
nightshadowpro 02-06-2010, 01:08 AM My advice would be to never put one's eggs in one basket. With that in mind, we use Go Daddy, Namecheap, and Dynadot.
CrazyPenguin 02-06-2010, 01:27 AM Right now I have domains with name.com, domainsite, answerable.com, 1&1 Internet, and Godaddy. I am in the process of moving domains away from 1&1 and Godaddy as they com due for renewal.
hosting4wealth 02-06-2010, 05:41 AM we have a few domain reseller programs and the best place to purchase domain is resellerclub.com as they are now consider the largest domain registration provider with huge discounted price when you purchased in bulk
Just my 2 cents :)
semoweb 02-06-2010, 06:08 AM I personally like Godaddy for domains :p
yooka 02-06-2010, 06:30 AM I register most of my domain names in Godaddy, sometimes in eNom.
admad1 02-06-2010, 11:31 AM [QUOTE= resellerclub.com as they are now consider the largest domain registration provider

Godaddy dwarfs them all by a long way.
I currently use onlinenic.com and moniker.com. Both are highly recommended. Onlinenic has a basic user interface and moniker has a more advanced over onlinenic.
I have used the following..
Godaddy.com - poor user interface in my eyes
enom.com - nice interface and domain control, high pricing when going direct.
Name.com - loved there user interface and transfer pricing until I moved domains over and they stuck me with an $8.99 renewal fee.
Namecheap.com - great user interface and domain control. Pricing is somewhat high for new and renewals.
Resellerclub.com - for resellers only, how promo pricing works is bs.
there are a few others but currently these are the only companies I have 1-5 domains with other then onlinenic and moniker which is where most of my domains are.

When i first jump in hosting industry 10 years ago, i start with networksolutions, and then switch to joker and gkg and then moved to onlinenic and stay with them for many years until their case with verizon....
i'm afraid of bad things will happened because that case, so i do a search and found directi & stargate....
now i reseller of 3 registrars...
my opinion on these 3 are...
- Onlinenic : they are good, but to simple interface for my customer to manage their domain.. customer need to contact reseller in order to whois protect, lock/unlock domain, etc...
- Directi : Many registrars used logicbox and they are the owner of logicbox.
- Stargate : the cheapest one in the earth for com/net/org.. and amazing for me, if i deposit $100, i got whole $100, no deduction.... i don't know how can they make profit from that....
i only sell Stargate to price sensitive customer, with previous warning "buy them with your own risk", because i'm no idea how can they stay in business with that very low price. but so far they still in business after bought by UK2 Group....
So my recomendation is don't put your egg in one basket....
i also read many recomendation on netearthone, i'm interest to try them also...
Ragedhost 02-07-2010, 05:52 AM name.com is appropriate to say.
CKGroup 02-07-2010, 07:06 AM Namecheap.com
mystycs 02-07-2010, 07:07 AM ^^ i second that go namecheap!!
esunlimited 02-07-2010, 03:33 PM I would recommend eNom.com :-) affordable and to the point.
diatribe 02-09-2010, 07:18 PM I use Namecheap for all my domains because they have good prices and offer the first year of whois for free.
Disrelation 02-09-2010, 07:56 PM NameCheap.com, I've been using them for years now.

There's a number of things to consider (perhaps you don't realize this)... but it would help if you could narrow down what you're looking for.
If it's just a low price... then keep an eye out for applicable go-daddy coupon codes. They often sell at a loss.
Other things to consider are the control panel interface, what additional features they provide (ie dns hosting, url forwarding, privacy, etc).
Also, accredition is important. And the body that provides the accredition varies depending on the TLD you are looking for. For example, for Canadian domain names (http://canadiandomainnames.vox.com/) it's CIRA (http://www.cira.ca), for .com, .net, .net it's ICANN (http://www.icann.org).
Generally I would avoid resellers and go straight to an accredited registrar. This generally leads to lower prices and better support (because they can interact directly with the registry).
Name.com
$8.09 .com/.net with coupon, and they have new coupon almost every month :)
they used to be have friday specials you can get .com for around $5, but no more.
godaddy.com or name.com, enom
SRSimon 02-10-2010, 06:22 AM GoDaddy.com with coupons (example, cjc749fat for $7.49 .com) and Enom.com
For finding domains, I use domaintyper.com (http://domaintyper.com/)
seoguru 02-10-2010, 07:32 AM I have used two main companies. eurodns for my .co.uk sites and namecheap for everything else. I no longer use eurodns as I am now a .com fanatic. namecheap allows me to buy domains in a matter of seconds and includes free privacy to block people from seeing your details in the whois. For me thats a must as I have many domains and I do not want people to see all of the domains I own.
SRSimon 02-10-2010, 07:41 AM Does Namecheap offer free privacy? It would be great, I'll need to take a look closer :)
Ajith Alfred 02-10-2010, 11:07 AM It can be easily found by searching the net or searching the list of top ones.
WickedFactor 02-10-2010, 11:44 PM GoDaddy here.
amitk2010 02-11-2010, 01:36 PM I have domains with directi, godaddy, name.com and namecheap.com
NetSol and namecheap. Both great.
OneNetwork-Net 02-11-2010, 10:05 PM Godaddy is number one right now. so, all my domains are staying with them.
boonchuan 02-11-2010, 10:59 PM I am buying from WebNIC.CC , they are huge on Asian domains which is my main focus market. Support is fantastic, you call and get a real person. Also there is no need to hear a record that gives you options to press from 1 to 999. It is immediate connection, fast support and most of the time they go out of the way to help.
inspiroHost 02-13-2010, 11:45 AM I used Namecheap until I got a domain account from resell.biz.
maniondagger 02-15-2010, 09:11 AM I have registered domain name at sibername.com. At they moment they did the cheapest prices
Ajith Alfred 02-15-2010, 04:24 PM You can get it from any registrars.
fur520 02-17-2010, 09:35 PM I ended up registering my business's name with 1&1 Internet for a discount. Then, I just got a notice that it's renewing automatically and I don't have to do anything, which is nice. While I'm not usually a huge fan of auto-renewal, in this case I may have forgot and then I'd be going through the hassle of getting my domain reactivated. Seems to be a solid company.
Disrelation 02-17-2010, 10:19 PM I've used Enom once, but I am still using NameCheap without any regrets. :)
linuxclark 02-24-2010, 04:47 AM I use godaddy, namecheap, dnsexit
forum_user 02-26-2010, 12:58 PM I have only ever used goDaddy.
k-planethost 02-26-2010, 02:15 PM i use enom and fxdomains.i use onlinenic but i am not satisfied with their api at all especially with .eu extensions.
had anybody tried this company?
http://www.internetbs.net/
AstroDude 02-27-2010, 09:55 PM I see a bunch of you have used Godaddy who I have also used and could also recommend. I've also tried another domain name registrar called The Domain Name Center Thier prices are usually quite low and on par with GoDaddy from what I've found.

This is a reseller of Godaddy, is it your's?
vpsfusion 02-28-2010, 03:30 AM GO TO DADDY. lol. I use Godaddy to purchase my domains. Have enom reseller account but rarely use that.
Supporting Moniker/GoDaddy/Dynadot/Namecheap.
Although I prefer to have most of my domains at GD, the other ones are just fine as well. I just like GD because they offer coupon codes/discounts for renewals, something I haven't seen the other registrars do
rickey318 02-28-2010, 04:18 AM I use Namecheap as they have so great disc. coupons online.
Clinton44 02-28-2010, 05:59 AM Namecheap has a really nice panel that makes it easy to manage everything. There's always tons of discounts and extras as well.
k-planethost 03-03-2010, 03:51 AM sure they have
and if you want to change nameservers or register private nameservers only by ticket for this extension.Especially if yoy are using whmcs registar module for them
they say also that they refund the money on their site, personally i am waiting for 2 weeks and still counting.
tritongr 03-04-2010, 05:16 PM Hi,
I just would like to share my experience with name.com. It's about the payment procedure through credit card.
I registered an .com domain for 8.99 USD. But When I checked my account they reserved(no charge yet) twice this amount = 17.98 USD. I don't know the final charge yet because I have to wait 4-5 days.
Their reply was:
"These are not a double charge, one is simply an authorization of funds. This is how internet transactions work. First the our systems verify that the funds are available and this is the authorization. Then were capture of decline the transaction based on the fraud risk. Your payment was approved and only the $8.99 was captured"
(this is copy/paste from their answer)
Can you understand this?
Is that normal when you order for let's say 1000 they go and reserve 2000 ?
Thanks
jmshap 03-04-2010, 07:00 PM I use namecheap.com and really like their control panel. However, sometimes the websites seems to take forever. Anyone else notice that?
maroonhost 03-04-2010, 07:18 PM I recommand resellerclub.com
jweeb 03-04-2010, 09:46 PM netfirms for me. They have free privacy for whois
jaroo 03-05-2010, 03:47 PM Namecheap (I've used GoDaddy and others in the past and nothing compares in my opinion)
Ajay R 03-05-2010, 11:11 PM I have all my domains registered with eNom and I have no problems so far. They are priced reasonable.
Dezigno 03-06-2010, 09:04 AM I usually go with godaddy.
suyash1985 03-09-2010, 09:59 AM i think i clicked twice or something... my message got posted again..
My apologies
Suyash
Joe262 03-09-2010, 10:31 AM I used to deal only with godaddy. More recently began moving some domains to DynaDot. GoDaddy certainly has better pricing for the initial registration, but renewal pricing sucks. GoDaddy also has better setup for creating nameserver glue. DynaDot has much better user interface though.
My current approach is:
Register with GD (using coupons of course). Set up nameservers. Wait 60 days. Transfer.
aaron1988 03-12-2010, 12:30 PM I usually buy mine of godaddy or 123reg.co.uk or even 1and1 i have never seemed to have any problem with these except 1and1 take like a week to take the money and then if you dont realise you end up spending it lol like i have a few times but then paid it off another day.
Regards,
Aaron
Ajay R 03-12-2010, 11:41 PM I have my domains registered with eNom and I find no problems with them. My domains are with them for couple of years andthey are good. I recommend eNom
Hidendra 03-13-2010, 12:07 AM i use iDotz.net. been with em for 5 years, no problems at all.
binny76 03-13-2010, 11:03 AM I use 1&1 internet for .com and .uk
BH-Greg 03-13-2010, 09:46 PM I buy them from NameCheap.com there really great, it was my first & last domain registera.
AirJordansHead 03-14-2010, 12:47 AM I bought my own domains when I bought hosting space from bluehost. I think almost all big hosting companies would have their own domain register department like fastdomain for bluehost.
Thanks,
Joe262 03-14-2010, 12:05 PM I bought my own domains when I bought hosting space from bluehost. I think almost all big hosting companies would have their own domain register department like fastdomain for bluehost.
Thanks,
Yeah, kindof. Most big hosting companies do offer domain registration, but it is usually a reseller situation. For example, afaik, fastdomain is an Enom reseller.
Getting your domain from your webhost can be good if you want the webhost to manage all the settings for the domain for you. It can be bad if you dont, or if you have a falling out with the webhost.
zackoo 03-14-2010, 07:22 PM I use GoDaddy, fast and easy:)
bostondaniel 03-15-2010, 12:57 PM Namecheap, and Godaddy when they have nice coupons.
123Systems-Andrew 03-15-2010, 01:22 PM Internet.bs & NameCheap
linux-tech 03-15-2010, 09:21 PM Not according to this link http://www.webhosting.info/registrars/top-registrars/global/
That information is only slightly outdated I'm sure.
Namecheap (I've used GoDaddy and others in the past and nothing compares in my opinion)
Same here. For the past 3 (or so) years, it's been strictly namecheap.
GoDaddy also has better setup for creating nameserver glue.
Are you kidding? Godaddy's setup for 'glue' is horrific. Their UI is horrible, it's a huge pain to find something in there.
JNadolski 03-15-2010, 09:55 PM godaddy & namecheap! I have to many lol but do develop most which is a big plus lol.
CrazyPenguin 03-15-2010, 10:56 PM Yeah, kindof. Most big hosting companies do offer domain registration, but it is usually a reseller situation. For example, afaik, fastdomain is an Enom reseller.
Fastdomain is an accredited ICANN (http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/accredited-list.html) registrar. Look for FastDomain Inc. from the ICANN link.
Joe262 03-16-2010, 02:02 AM Fastdomain is an accredited ICANN (http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/accredited-list.html) registrar. Look for FastDomain Inc. from the ICANN link.
Thank you. I stand corrected.
http://www.internic.net/registrars/registrar-1154.html
My apologies to FastDomain.
Joe262 03-16-2010, 02:10 AM Are you kidding? Godaddy's setup for 'glue' is horrific. Their UI is horrible, it's a huge pain to find something in there.
Their UI definitely is horrific, but they are one of the few that rarely complains when I create dual-stack nameservers. So, that with the coupon pricing for initial registrations makes it worth it for me.
Karbon 03-17-2010, 08:07 PM No one gets em from ENOM?
I'm thinking about depositing $200 into my ENOM account when I really get seriously into this to get the domains from there.
reckoning 03-17-2010, 10:02 PM Name, dynadot and domaincentral which I notice no one has mentioned yet.
Currently I'm using NameCheap.
C4talyst 03-18-2010, 08:36 PM I'll toss in my vote for OpenSRS/Tucows. I've had a reseller account for nearly 10 years and have never had a problem with their service.
Losvre 05-16-2010, 09:31 AM I use GoDaddy, fast and easy:)
Fast? It takes a min literally for loading evry page you click.
Just what I have noticed.
sentabi 05-16-2010, 10:28 AM im using netfirm, godaddy, name, and namecheap :)
I use NameCheap. Reasonable pricing and extensive tools.
dittoa 05-17-2010, 07:25 AM I use eNom and eNoms API with WHMCS.
Joe262 05-17-2010, 03:20 PM I use eNom and eNoms API with WHMCS.
Lately I been using NetEarth One via their API, also with WHMCS.
I been wanting to write some CLI tools that will register a domain via API, add the zone to bind on the master nameserver using a selectable zone file template, and then configure the slave nameservers as well, with as few commands as possible. (I've never been fond of control panels)
I'm thinking the best way would be via the Java API, register the domain, run the zonefile template through a preprocessor ( m4 maybe? :P ), copy it to a location where bind can access it, run a config file template through a preprocessor as well, and put the output into a dir where it will be read by bind upon reload, doing this step as well on the slave servers. Then use cron to check every so often if any new zones have been added, and if so to reload bind. Could optionally set a template zone file to include an A record that goes to a parking page. : )
Currently purchase our own through godaddy.. not had any problems with them.
And we sell our domains through eNom, no problems but is not cheap.
Creaky 05-31-2010, 06:04 AM Most of mine are with 1&1 at the moment, started looking at other places for any future ones though.
areol 05-31-2010, 10:00 AM i purchase mine through godaddy & 123reg
